A heartfelt poem about losing ourselves while trying to make everyone else happy. It reminds us that amid life’s duties, sacrifices, and expectations, we must not forget our own dreams, peace, and happiness. Because sometimes, the most meaningful journey is the one that leads us back to ourselves. ❤️
A Stranger to Myself
One day, I stopped and asked my heart,
“When did we grow so far apart?
I’ve lived for others, year by year,
But when did I stop holding myself dear?”
I chased their smiles, I hid my pain,
I stood through sunshine, storms, and rain.
I kept my promises, played my part,
Yet left my dreams somewhere in the dark.
I built a home, I earned my place,
But peace still seemed a distant space.
I had so much to call my own,
Yet deep inside, I felt alone.
Then came a voice, so soft, so true:
“Be kind to the world, but be kind to you.
The past is gone; let old wounds heal.
Your own heart, too, deserves to feel.”
So here I stand, with a brand-new start,
Ready to listen to my own heart.
The years may have passed, but one truth I see:
The longest journey is back to me.
