# My Dear Life #

A heartfelt conversation with Life, filled with hindsight, missed signals, relationships, loneliness, and lessons learned the hard way.
It is a gentle reminder that life may not teach us before the experience—but through it. And sometimes, growing older simply means understanding ourselves a little better.

# My Dear Life #

My dear Life,
it took me too long to understand you.

People judged me quickly,
while I took years
to understand people.

I trusted relationships
with a child’s heart,
and learned their lessons
only after they hurt me.

You played your moves well,
and I kept losing
because I never learned the game.

I spent precious time
on things that didn’t deserve it,
and discovered loneliness
while searching for belonging.

You gave me signs,
again and again—
but I understood them
only after the moment had passed.

If I had known then
what I know today,
perhaps many things
would have been different.

But maybe that is your secret, Life:

You don’t teach us
before the lesson.
You teach us
through it.

And now,
I may not understand you completely—

but I understand myself
a little better.

Thank you, Life.

    • Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. 🙏

Life often teaches us through missed signals, difficult moments, and experiences we understand only much later. Looking back can be painful, but it can also help us see how far we have travelled and how much we have learned.

I’m glad this little conversation with Life touched your heart. Sometimes, sharing our vulnerabilities reminds us that we are not alone in our journey.

    • Thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt words. 🙏🤍

Yes, some of life’s deepest lessons cannot be learned from advice or books—they can only be understood when we live through them. The difficult moments, the disappointments, and even our mistakes slowly teach us who we are and what truly matters

  4. A deeply moving reflection on life and the wisdom that comes through experience. Sometimes, we understand the true meaning of relationships, trust, and belonging only when time has taught us what words never could. The past may not be rewritten, but its lessons can transform the way we see ourselves and the world. Perhaps growing older is not about having all the answers, but about gaining the clarity to understand ourselves with greater honesty and compassion. 🙏

  6. A very thoughtful poem, Verma. It’s almost philosophical. Your poem reminds me a bit of the Seventh Seal. Your ponderings about desiring to solve life’s questions, accepting that things will be lost, and embracing life’s ambiguity leave a familiar note in my heart. Although the film focuses more on death, I can definitely see themes of ambiguity within the journey of growing older. Your poem touches on that too. Lovely thoughts, Verma!

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful and deeply insightful words.
I’m touched that my poem brought The Seventh Seal to your mind. Yes, perhaps growing older is, in its own quiet way, a journey of standing before the unknown—searching for answers while gradually learning that not every question needs an answer.

    • Absolutely! Every experience, whether joyful or challenging, leaves us with something to learn. Life itself is perhaps our greatest teacher, and its lessons become clearer when we pause, reflect, and keep moving forward. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful observation. 🙏
