# If a Genie Appeared Today…

The genie grants you a wish. What is it?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this Blog finds you in a cheerful mood.

Today’s writing prompt question is very interesting as I read: “The genie grants you a wish. What is it?”

What a delightful question!

For a moment, imagine that a genie suddenly appears before you and says, “You have one wish. Ask for anything, and it shall be yours.”

What would you ask for?

A mountain of money? Good health? A luxurious house? Endless youth? Success? Perhaps the opportunity to travel around the world?

I smiled when I thought about it. The older we become, the more our wishes change. What once looked like a treasure may no longer seem valuable. Life has a funny way of teaching us what is truly precious.

If I were given only one wish, I would not ask for unlimited wealth or everlasting youth.

My wish would be:

“Give me and my loved ones more healthy, peaceful and meaningful years together.”

That is all.

I would like to wake up each morning with gratitude, walk under the open sky, laugh with friends, enjoy conversations with family, create something with my own hands, write from my heart, and continue learning until my last breath.

As I have grown older, I have realised that time is the greatest wealth we possess.

Money can buy comfort, but it cannot buy yesterday.

There was a time when earning more money might have been my first thought.

But eventually we discover that possessions have a strange habit—they demand our attention while giving us only temporary satisfaction.

A bigger house needs more maintenance. A more expensive car still takes us only from one place to another. A bank balance can provide security, but it cannot sit beside us when we are lonely.

As the saying goes:

“The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.”

Today, I would rather have a peaceful mind than a crowded bank account.

Perhaps the genie could make me twenty-five again.

Tempting!

But after thinking about it, I would say no.

I don’t want to erase the years that brought me here. Every wrinkle carries a story. Every failure taught me something. Every friendship, disappointment, achievement and setback has contributed to the person I am today.

I don’t want to become young again.

I want to remain young at heart.

There is a beautiful difference.

Youth is a stage of life. Youngness of spirit is a choice.

If the genie allowed me to make my wish a little bigger, I would include everyone.

I would wish for a world where children receive love and education, elderly people receive dignity and companionship, and people learn to disagree without becoming enemies.

I would wish for fewer lonely hearts and more helping hands.

After all, what is the value of receiving a wonderful gift if the people around us cannot share the happiness?

As Helen Keller beautifully expressed:

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

But here is the surprising part.

Maybe we don’t need a genie at all.

We already possess something remarkably powerful—the ability to make small wishes come true through our actions.

Want more happiness? Call an old friend.

Want better health? Take a walk.

Want creativity? Pick up a brush or pen.

Want peace? Learn to forgive.

Want meaningful relationships? Spend time with the people who matter.

Want to make the world better? Begin with one small act of kindness.

We may not control everything that happens in life, but we can influence how we live it.

So, if a genie stood before me today, I would close my eyes for a moment and think carefully.

Then I would say:

“Please give me enough healthy years to keep loving, learning, creating, laughing and serving—and enough wisdom to appreciate every one of them.”

Perhaps that is not the most spectacular wish.

But it is a heartfelt one.

Because ultimately, life is not about having everything we wish for.

It is about learning to wish for the things that truly matter.

And if we can wake up tomorrow with health, hope, people to love, something meaningful to do, and gratitude in our hearts—

perhaps the genie has already granted our greatest wish.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE
