# Today, Let Me Cry #

A quiet reflection on the courage to express pain instead of always hiding behind a smile. The poem reminds us that tears are not a sign of weakness; sometimes, they are simply the heart’s way of releasing what it has carried for too long and finding space to breathe again.

Today, Let Me Cry

All my life,
I have been told to be strong,
to smile through pain,
and quietly move on.

But today,
please don’t ask me to be strong.

When a river overflows,
we let the water find its way.
When dry leaves catch fire,
we let them turn to ash.

So why can’t I
let my tears fall?

Let love bloom.
Let kindness grow.
We have seen enough anger,
enough hatred,
enough wounds.

Today, I don’t want to fight.
I only want to release
the pain I have carried silently.

My tears are not weakness.
They are simply
my heart learning to breathe again.

So, please—

Don’t stop my tears.
Don’t ask me to smile.
Just let me cry today.

  1. What a beautiful and deeply moving poem, Verma ji. 🙏

“Today, Let Me Cry” speaks to something so many of us carry silently — the weight of always having to be strong, always having to smile through the storm. Your words give permission to feel, to release, to simply be human.

The lines “My tears are not weakness. They are simply my heart learning to breathe again” — that is pure truth, expressed with such gentle grace. And the images of the river overflowing and the dry leaves turning to ash… they remind us that letting go is not defeat; it is nature’s own wisdom.

Thank you for writing something so honest and comforting. This poem is a soft place for weary hearts to rest. Keep writing, keep sharing — your voice matters. 🌿💙

    • Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. 🙏
Your reflection beautifully captures what I hoped the poem would convey—that tears are not a sign of weakness, but a natural way of releasing what the heart has carried for too long. Sometimes, we simply need permission to feel.

  2. Beautifully written, Verma ji🤍 Sometimes we don’t need advice or strength we just need permission to feel and let the tears come. I loved the thought that tears are simply the heart’s way of learning to breathe again. So tender and deeply human. 🌸🦋✨

    • Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. 🤍
Sometimes the greatest comfort is not advice, but simply being allowed to feel without judgment.

I’m so glad that the thought of tears helping the heart breathe again touched you. 🌸

  3. A man writing let me cry shows your honesty. A man has never been allowed to show his tears. He has been asked to be strong, take responsibility, ask for nothing much in return, be strict etc etc. This was the societal expectation since ages.

    • Thank you so much for this thoughtful reflection. 🙏
You have touched upon something very important. For generations, men were often taught to hide their tears and carry their responsibilities silently, as if showing emotion meant showing weakness.
But tears are not a sign of weakness—they are simply another language of the heart.
Perhaps true strength lies not in hiding our emotions, but in having the courage to acknowledge and express them.
