A quiet reflection on the courage to express pain instead of always hiding behind a smile. The poem reminds us that tears are not a sign of weakness; sometimes, they are simply the heart’s way of releasing what it has carried for too long and finding space to breathe again.
Today, Let Me Cry
All my life,
I have been told to be strong,
to smile through pain,
and quietly move on.
But today,
please don’t ask me to be strong.
When a river overflows,
we let the water find its way.
When dry leaves catch fire,
we let them turn to ash.
So why can’t I
let my tears fall?
Let love bloom.
Let kindness grow.
We have seen enough anger,
enough hatred,
enough wounds.
Today, I don’t want to fight.
I only want to release
the pain I have carried silently.
My tears are not weakness.
They are simply
my heart learning to breathe again.
So, please—
Don’t stop my tears.
Don’t ask me to smile.
Just let me cry today.
