Key to Fitness and Good Health


Exercise improves mood and boosts happiness in several ways including increased serotonin production, decreased stress hormones, and prolonged lifespan. Even just 10 minutes of exercise is helpful for a quick boost in your physical and mental health,

Today, when I was doing a morning walk in the park, a discussion broke out among our elderly friends about who is looking so fit. 

Although there is a rare possibility that we are free from any disease in this old age. we all keep looking for ways to keep ourselves fit. 

Along with the morning walk, we do exercise, yoga, and other activities like swimming and other sports that suits us.

One of my friends then asked – what are the criteria which determine our fitness level.. 

I remembered one article posted by one of my blogger friends on fitness criteria.  They mentioned four parameters that can be helpful to determine our fitness level.

Today I would like to discuss those parameters of fitness level so that we can judge, about self fitness.

Being a senior citizen like me, it is important to do such exercise to keep ourselves fit and healthy.

The Key to Happiness

Balancing Exercise :

Balance is something most of us take for granted. We don’t usually give it much thought unless we experience challenges, such as dizziness, instability, or even falling. 

Being a senior citizen maintaining stability is critical for several daily activities and physical safety. We do common tasks like walking, taking the stairs and even bringing the body to standing from a sitting position requires a balance of our body.. 

  Maintaining control of your body may become more difficult with growing age.  We can avoid this situation by keeping a sense of balance with these basic exercises.

Balance on one foot :

Balancing exercises include some yoga poses like standing on one leg. Balancing on one foot is one of the easiest exercises.  We can try as follow :

Single leg lift

–  Stand erect with feet close together.

–  Keeping your head straight take a deep breath and slowly lift your right leg off of the floor. As you become more confident with the position bring your leg higher so that your knee is as close to your chest as you can comfortably manage.

–  Repeat with your left leg.

Single leg side lift

–  Stand with feet close together.

–  Again, keep your eyes and head forward, and steady your body and mind with a deep breath before lifting your right leg slowly to your side.

–  Take care to keep your body erect as you lift your leg.–  Repeat with your left leg.

–  Repeat with alternate arm and leg. 

Strength Exercise :

In the beginning, we can try some of those cool moves that help strengthen our muscles. it’s important to have a solid foundation first. To start with the basics, our best bet is to start by mastering a handful of basic exercises — that is to build a strong foundation and really focus on the muscles you feel working during movements,” “

Starting with weight lifting exercises is a great way to do that,” Apart from that we can learn to do the pushup exercise. Just be sure to start with the right variation for your current ability level.

Health is Real Wealth

Stretching  Exercise :

A regular stretch routine has many benefits. Stretching will help you increase your flexibility, and move better overall. It is also a great way to de-stress. As a beginner, it’s great to start with basic stretching exercises that are very easy to do. 

Best Stretching Exercises for beginners are

Standing Calf Stretch, 

Thigh Stretch,

Standing or Seated Hamstrings Stretch,

Kneeling or Standing Hip Flexor Stretch, etc .

Yes, many of these stretches have options for kneeling, sitting, or standing. We can choose the option that is best suited to us.

Once you felt a tolerable stretch, hold still in that position for 30 seconds, or up to 2 minutes, depending on your goals and your available time. Remember to breathe as you stretch, and try to relax.

Fitness is the first requisite of Happiness.

Endurance exercises:

It includes jogging, squatting, crunches, push up, etc. Those exercises require you to endure, even when you feel like stopping, We can have activities like walking on the spot,  or climbing the stairs to your flat at a moderate pace. …

Apart from that, we can have an option like Skipping, Jumping Jacks. and Jogging on the Spot.


If we can spare some time in the morning and do with the daily morning routine, we can feel the changes in our bodies. These exercises are best to keep us fit. 

Yes, Physical fitness is the first requisite of Happiness.
