A heartfelt poem about the quiet power of kindness and the beauty of making a difference. We may not change the whole world, but a little compassion, a helping hand, or a comforting word can brighten someone’s darkest day.
True greatness lies not in how much we possess, but in the love and hope we leave behind. 🌷
The Little Good I Do
I may not be the sun that lights the sky,
But I can be a lamp when hopes run dry.
I may not stop life’s storms from coming through,
But I can hold a hand and see someone through.
I cannot change the world overnight,
But I can help one heart find light.
No fame, no crown, no grand applause—
Just kindness given without a cause.
And when my days have reached their end,
May I be remembered as a caring friend.
Yes, life’s worth is not what we achieve,
But the love we share and the hearts we leave.
I may be small in this world, it’s true,
But there is still so much good I can do.

A lovely poem, and there is something warming about both receiving and giving compassion. You’ve worded it so well.

Verma’ji, this is a gentle yet meaningful reminder that goodness need not announce itself through grand gestures. Sometimes it is simply a hand held at the right moment, a kind word offered without expectation, or the quiet willingness to stand beside someone when life becomes difficult. I particularly like the thought that we may not be able to change the world overnight, but we can certainly make a difference to one life, one heart at a time.
There is a beautiful humility in the poem’s closing thought. Perhaps the true measure of a life is not the number of milestones we leave behind, but the warmth that remains in the lives we have touched. A lovely piece, dada, and a sentiment worth carrying into our everyday lives.
