Life Moves On
Life makes us smile, then makes us cry,
Like passing clouds across the sky.
It hides our dreams behind the grey,
Then paints them bright with each new day.
A little bird, with hope anew,
Builds its nest beneath the blue.
Through storms and winds, it carries on,
Trusting in the coming dawn.
We lose, we learn, we heal, we grow,
Through paths whose ends we cannot know.
Yesterday fades, tomorrow calls,
And time keeps moving through it all.
So cherish love; let sorrows depart,
Keep a little sunshine in your heart.
For life won’t wait, come what may—
Like a flowing river, it finds its way.

Like a bird building its nest despite storms.
Sometimes I think it is despite human beings.
I think of the birds and the animals every time we chop down a tree or build a new building.

So true! 💚 Birds and animals share this planet with us, yet they are often the ones who pay the price for our progress. Every tree we cut down may be a home lost, a nest destroyed, or a life displaced. Development is necessary, but it should never come at the cost of compassion for other living beings. Perhaps true progress is learning to build our homes without taking away theirs.
