A quiet moment in a library becomes a reflection on creativity, memory, and life’s unwritten chapters. Surrounded by books from the past, the writer discovers that the blank page ahead may hold his most beautiful story yet.
The Last Seat
I chose the last chair
in the quietest corner
of the library—
where old wooden shelves
stood like silent witnesses
to a thousand unfinished stories.
Before me lay
the books I had written,
my own words resting quietly
on the table,
as if they had returned
to ask me—
“What will you write next?”
I smiled.
Around me,
the scent of old paper
and dust-filled books
lingered softly in the air.
A clock whispered from the wall;
somewhere between the shelves,
a page turned.
Beyond the tall window,
evening slowly gathered.
Golden light slipped across the floor
and slowly faded into the sky.
I stayed.
Not to read.
Not to write.
Perhaps simply to listen
to the silence
within my own mind.
And as the library
grew darker around me,
I left one blank page
before me untouched.
Maybe it was waiting
for the next story.
Maybe it was waiting
for me.
I have written many books,
but that evening I understood—
the most beautiful story
is sometimes the one
we have not yet begun to write.

Verma ji, The Last Seat is deeply beautiful and meditative. You’ve captured that rare library silence where the past, present, and future seem to meet. The blank page at the end is not empty—it is full of possibility. The closing thought, “the most beautiful story is sometimes the one we have not yet begun to write,” will stay with me for a long time. Truly touching. Keep writing, Verma ji. 🙏📖✨

Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. 🙏 I’m truly touched that The Last Seat resonated with you so deeply. You have captured the very essence of what I hoped to convey—that every ending leaves room for a new beginning, and every blank page holds a world of possibilities.
Your appreciation encourages me to keep writing and discovering new stories. Grateful to have readers like you who look beyond the words and feel their meaning. ❤️

Absolutely! 😊 Sometimes silence speaks what words cannot express. It gives peace to the mind, clarity to the heart, and wisdom to the soul. But the real art is knowing when to remain silent and when to speak from the heart. 🙏
