This is a reflection on time, lost dreams, delayed happiness, and the truth that life goes on while we plan for tomorrow. It’s a reminder to slow down, appreciate the present, and live before another day passes by.
I Never Knew
Time kept moving—
but how it moved,
I never knew.
Life kept passing—
but what it became,
I never knew.
In the restless rush of living,
between dreams and duties,
between tomorrow and today,
when did my years slip away?
I never knew.
I wanted to touch the sky,
to follow every dream,
but somewhere along the way,
my wings grew tired.
And when I stopped to look around,
the sky seemed farther than before.
I never knew.
I kept postponing happiness
for a brighter day—
only to discover
that happiness was already
walking beside me.
Then one morning,
I looked into the mirror
and saw not just my face,
but all the years
I could never reclaim.
Now I ask for little—
a peaceful morning,
a grateful heart,
a few loved ones,
and the courage to live
before another day departs.
For time never announces
when it is leaving.
It simply goes—
and one day we look back
and whisper,
“Where did life go?”
And the answer is always the same—
“I never knew.”

Happiness is always there whenever we know how to create it. Such a wonderful piece, Verma.

You are doing great. You live well.
I dread living long, I do not know if it is because I have pain in my body daily and it makes doing the things I need to do hard.
