# When Yesterday Calls #

A tender reflection on memories and the moments that time carries away. Though yesterday cannot return, the love, laughter, and emotions it left behind continue to live quietly within our hearts. Some moments end in time—but never truly leave us.

# When Yesterday Calls #

If yesterday could knock
upon my door tonight,
I would open it softly
and welcome back its light.

I would gather those moments
that time scattered away,
and stitch them together
with the threads of yesterday.

O, memories,
you may have faded from view,
but every quiet corner of my heart
still remembers you.

You were the laughter,
the tears, the songs I knew—
the little pieces of life
that made my journey true.

I cannot turn the clock back,
nor ask the years to stay,
but I can meet you in my dreams
at the ending of each day.

So, dear moments gone by,
never think you are lost—
time may have carried you away,
but my heart paid the cost.

You live within my silence,
in every smile and tear;
and whenever I close my eyes,
I find you waiting there.

  1. This is a beautiful and deeply moving poem, Verma ji. Your words capture the gentle ache of nostalgia and the enduring power of memory with such grace. The lines “time may have carried you away, but my heart paid the cost” and “You live within my silence, in every smile and tear” are especially poignant—they speak to the truth that our most precious moments never truly leave us; they simply become part of who we are.

Thank you for sharing this tender reflection. It reminds us all to cherish the love and laughter that shape our journey, even as the years move on.
