A quiet reflection on growing older, emotional weariness, and the things the heart truly needs. Sometimes we don’t need advice, remedies, or solutions—we simply need love, understanding, laughter, companionship, and a little prayer.
A Little Love, A Little Prayer
These days,
I am not quite myself.
Sometimes I am restless,
sometimes I lose my temper,
sometimes my mind
creates storms out of nothing.
So, my dear ones,
those who worry about me,
those who love me—
I don’t ask for a remedy.
Just give me a little prayer.
Don’t tell me
how to look young.
Let my hair turn grey,
let my steps grow slow,
let my eyes carry
the stories of time.
I am not afraid of growing old.
What troubles me more
is not the ache in my back,
the weakness in my body,
or the fading light in my eyes.
It is the harsh word,
the needless argument,
the hidden hatred,
and the loneliness
that sometimes sits quietly
beside my smiling face.
So don’t teach me
how to live longer.
Teach me how to live happier.
Sit with me.
Share a cup of tea.
Make me laugh.
Listen without judging.
I have spent enough years
living for others—
fulfilling duties,
carrying responsibilities,
putting my own dreams aside.
Now, I want a little time
to live for myself.
To write.
To paint.
To walk.
To dream.
To simply be me.
I don’t need applause anymore.
I don’t need to prove anything.
I only need
a peaceful heart,
a few loving souls,
and the freedom
to smile without a reason.
So, my dear ones—
Don’t worry about my age.
Don’t worry about my wrinkles.
Don’t worry about my grey hair.
Just give me
a little love,
a little laughter,
a little understanding—
and when you pray,
remember me.
Because sometimes
the body needs medicine,
but the heart—
only needs a little love
and a little prayer.

Sometimes the things we find annoying are actually the things we will miss the most. A mother’s reminders, a family member checking in, a simple message asking if you ate, these are not just words. They are small pieces of love from someone saying, “You are always on my mind.” We often understand the value of these moments only when they become less frequent. Appreciate the people who love you in ordinary ways, because one day, those ordinary messages may become the ones you wish you could receive again.

This touched my heart Verma ji🤍 Sometimes, as we grow older, what we truly need isn’t advice or solutions, but a little patience, companionship, laughter, and love. Such a beautiful reminder to simply be there for the people we care about. 🙏🦋🌸

A deeply human reflection on growing older not as a fear of age, but as a reminder that the heart’s deepest needs remain beautifully simple. With time, we may need fewer solutions and more understanding; fewer judgments and more companionship; fewer words of advice and more moments of genuine presence.
The most powerful thought here is that a meaningful life is not measured merely by how long we live, but by how peacefully, lovingly, and authentically we live. Grey hair, slower steps, and passing years are not the real burdens. Emotional loneliness, harshness, unnecessary conflict, and the feeling of being unheard can weigh far more heavily.
Sometimes, sitting beside someone, sharing a cup of tea, listening without judgment, making them laugh, or simply remembering them in a prayer can be a greater act of care than any advice.
A quiet, compassionate reminder: when the heart is weary, it does not always ask for a solution it asks not to be alone.
