The Wise Slave Girl
Dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood. In today’s storytelling session, let me share an interesting tale that perfectly embodies the wisdom, determination, and intelligence of a woman.
A Sultan’s Challenge
Once upon a time, in a land ruled by a powerful and proud sultan, tales of an extraordinary slave girl reached his ears.
Her reputation, it was said, far surpassed the worth of a hundred others, not because of her beauty or her skills in labor, but because of her intelligence, wit, and unshakable dignity.
Intrigued by these whispers, the sultan decided to summon her to his court to witness this marvel for himself.
As the slave girl entered the grand palace, her poise and sharp eyes commanded the attention of everyone present. She stood tall, her aura of wisdom undeniable, as the sultan gazed upon her with curious eyes.
“Why does your price exceed that of all others?” the sultan asked, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
With calm confidence, the girl replied, “Because I am distinguished by my intellect, my lord.”

The sultan’s smile grew. “If that is true, I will test you. Should you answer correctly, I will grant you your freedom. Fail, and you will face a much harsher fate.”
The court fell silent, tension thick in the air as the sultan asked his challenge. “Tell me, what is the most beautiful garment, the most pleasant perfume, the most delicious food, the softest bed, and the most beautiful country?”
Without hesitation, the slave girl turned toward the sultan’s advisors and calmly said, “Prepare my belongings and bring my horse, for I am ready to leave this palace as a free woman.”
The court gasped, but she raised her hand, signaling them to listen.

The Slave Girl’s Wisdom
She began, “The most beautiful garment is the single shirt worn by a poor man, for it shields him in both winter’s cold and summer’s heat. In it, he finds solace regardless of the season.”
“The most pleasant perfume,” she continued, “is the scent of a mother, even one who works as a humble fire-blower in a public bath. Her fragrance carries the love and warmth of home, a scent that no luxury could ever match.”
“The most delicious food,” she said, pausing for effect, “is the meal a starving soul receives after days of hunger. For when one’s stomach growls in desperation, even the simplest morsel becomes a banquet.”
“The softest bed,” she explained, “is not one filled with feathers or gold, but the bed on which you sleep with a clear conscience. If your heart carries guilt or injustice, even a bed of the finest silk will feel like a bed of thorns.”
The girl turned to leave, her footsteps echoing through the hall. But just before she reached the door, the sultan’s voice rang out again, stopping her.
“You have yet to answer the final question. What is the most beautiful country?”
The slave girl turned back to face him, her eyes gleaming with defiance and truth. “The most beautiful country, O Sultan, is the one that is free. Free from ignorance, free from oppression, and ruled by wise leaders who seek justice for all.”
The court fell into stunned silence, her words reverberating through the grand hall.
The sultan, who was known for his wisdom as much as his pride, rose slowly from his throne. His gaze softened as he looked upon the girl who had dared to speak such bold truths.
“You have answered wisely,” the sultan declared, his voice filled with respect. “Your freedom is well earned.”
And so, the slave girl, with her wit and unwavering spirit, walked out of the palace not as a slave, but as a free woman.
Her wisdom had not only won her liberty, but she had also delivered a powerful message about governance, justice, and human dignity—one that would echo through the ages.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response.
Yes, the sultan, visibly moved by her words, stood in silence for a moment, letting the weight of her answer sink in.
His stern gaze softened as he addressed the girl, now not as a mere slave but as an equal in wisdom.
