It is said that the Mind is difficult to control but not impossible. Even the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single steps.
It does not matter how we are doing right now, the point is what are we going to do next.
if you have fallen 1000 times you get up the 1001th time, Is it correct ?
It is the fact that mind is difficult to control, sometimes when we are concentrating on God, our mind goes to everything else. What should we do?
Arjun said in Mahabharat that it is more difficult to control the mind than the wind.,
Everybody knows that Arjuna’s mind was so controlled and focus that he became the best dhanurdhar at that time.
Still, he was unable to control his mind and got nervous in Mahabharat.
Everybody is a bag of virtues and defects. But nobody likes harboring with anger greed, desire hatred, envy. .
if our mind contemplates the defects of others, first of all it is poor reflection of our consciousness and second, such contemplation only increases our own defects.
This mind of ours is constantly creating thoughts.
Thought is the cognitive processes involved in mental activities such as reasoning, remembering, imagining, problem solving, and making judgments.
If we utilize that power of thought in the proper direction, we can completely transform our life. But the same thought power when mis-utilized, it can take us to the darkest depths.
when you are eating your meal and suddenly you get a piece of gravel. , then, you are immediately alerted about that stone in the meal. .
then you take it out from the mouth. It is only because it is not worthy of eating. If it goes inside, it will create harmful effect.
I mean to say, we are so careful about, when it comes to putting physical things inside, but in the thought process, , we are careless..
Harboring hatred, harboring envy, harboring resentment .. we spend half the energy in these useless things ..
All these hatred, envy, resentment, fear are unwholesome thoughts,
so first of all we need to be aware that these thoughts are not good for u .. when we are aware, we can then put our practice into action to stay away .
And what is the practice to put into the action ?
- Replace the negative thoughts.
..It is very simple… you practice the reverse thought. In other words,… PRACTICE THE GOOD THOUGHT TO NEUTRALISE THAT BAD THOUGHT.
Supposing you have got the thought of pride. now what to do ?
Should let it go inside ? if it does , it will create bad thought inside.
So, you have to take immediate action and immediately take it out and throw it away.
To neutralize this, you can practice a thought of humbleness, i.e. practice a reverse thought habbits that will neutralize that bad thought.
We know that bad habits are extremely strong and it is difficult to get rid of them.
However, breaking a bad habit requires tremendous force. Just like when a rocket is shot into space by nasa, the first few seconds need the maximum fuel.
Because force of gravitation has to be broken with tremendous force. , similarly, we all have the force of habits within ourselves that should be put into action..
Actually, these bad habits are material habits. Our repeated thinking has created these channels in the mind i.e. habit..
negative thinking, blaming, procrastination all they are material habits , unproductive habits,.
We have to be very careful and we have to watch for them.
But how do you watch for them?
It is very simple, the thought that is beneficial will give you a bliss from inside. you will know it by feeling to the thought., That thought will be uplifting, when you think.
A kind thought, the thought of austerity. A thought of sacrifice, a thought of selflessness, a thought of renunciation, these thought when created will let you know that is good for you.
And when you think a deleterious thought the thought will create bad feeling within you. .it is something that hurt others thought of having different feelings.
So, friends one should checking that positive thought careful. And then breaking the harmful thought habits, with the beneficial thoughts.
- Be your own Best Friend.
We are mean to ourselves. self-talk is good for health but nearly 90 % of self-talk is negative .
there are three steps to overcome this.
Release it, Let it out to help process, not to dwell. Three minutes, then the pity party is over.
Track it. Identify when you have negative thoughts. Awareness will enable refraining.
Refrain it. Once you know why you are being mean, consider what your best friend would say to you. Then tell yourself what you need to hear.
- Write instead of thinking
Scribing is the best way to get rid of negative thought. Write down why the negative thought is present. Writing verses thinking helps purge the thought out., and when you can see the words on paper it is easier to make sense of it and move forward.
- Establish New Habits..
Rather than thinking, overcoming negative thought pattern , think of establishing new good habits. We can do that by directing our attention to subjects where we feel good about and therefore think positive.
It is the fact that All human being are governed by habits. You practice the reverse of negative thoughts and make new habit of positive thinking.
- Use Affirmation.
This is very effective tools . when you wake up open your eyes and feel gratitude for the new day.
Affirmations are simply statements, which focus on the positive rather than the negative.
These mantras can actually reprogram your subconscious thinking and bring you a plethora of good benefits that you’ll enjoy for years to come!
The affirmation should be in present tense . You can Write down daily affirmation like..
I love the people I work with.
I make positive contributions every day .
I am open to inspired thoughts. If negative thought creep in, think of success you have had and the feeling that went with it. Positive thinking is a daily task, but worth it.
- Try movement and meditation
No doubt, it is difficult to get rid of negative thought, but few minutes of deliberate breath work, i.e. meditation for 10 to 15 minutes daily along with body movement like yoga practice can disrupt those negative thinking pattern.
It should be our concentrated and spontaneous efforts to cut those negative thought patterns.
Always practice thinking good of others, thought of kindness, and stay away from negative bad habits..
Whenever thoughts opposite to these arise, you cut them out by the reverse practice immediately.
