Hello, dear friends!
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood.
Today’s writing prompt asks a fascinating question: “What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?”
What a beautiful question! It encourages us to look back at our lives, rediscover forgotten dreams, and celebrate achievements that once seemed beyond our reach. Sometimes, the most remarkable chapters of our lives begin when we least expect them.
For me, the answer is deeply personal. After retirement, I went on to write seven books, and now I am preparing myself for my next project.
Looking back, this journey has taught me that retirement need not be the end of ambition; it can be the beginning of an exciting new adventure.
❤️ When Life Begins a New Chapter
For many people, retirement signals the end of professional responsibilities and the beginning of a quieter life. After years of work, routines, and commitments, there is finally time to slow down.
But I have always believed that life has more to offer than simply looking back at the years we have spent.
Retirement gave me something precious: the opportunity to explore my creative side, follow my interests, and devote time to the world of words. What might have been a period of inactivity became an opportunity to create something meaningful.
Writing seven books after retirement has been a journey of discovery, discipline, patience, and fulfilment.
As the saying goes, “It is never too late to become what you might have been.”
I have come to appreciate the truth behind those words. Sometimes, we discover our real possibilities only when life gives us the freedom to pursue them.

❤️ Seven Books, Countless Lessons
Writing a book is much more than putting words on paper. It demands imagination, research, perseverance, and the willingness to return to a page even when inspiration seems distant.
Every book brings its own challenges. There are ideas to develop, thoughts to organise, sentences to refine, and moments when we must question whether we can do justice to the subject.
Yet, with every completed book, I discovered something new about myself.
Writing taught me to observe the world more carefully, listen to the quiet voice of experience, and transform thoughts into expressions that others might understand and appreciate.
Each book became a milestone—not merely because I had completed a project, but because I had moved beyond a limitation I might once have placed upon myself.
Seven books are not simply seven accomplishments; they represent seven journeys of learning, creativity, and personal growth.
And the most exciting part? My journey has not ended. I am now looking forward to my next project, carrying with me the experience of the books behind me and the curiosity to explore something new.

❤️ Age Is Not a Barrier to Creativity
Society often associates creativity and ambition with youth. We sometimes assume that new beginnings belong to those who have plenty of years ahead of them.
But why should age determine the boundaries of our dreams?
Experience brings its own treasures: memories, wisdom, emotional understanding, and a deeper appreciation of life’s complexities. These qualities can enrich our writing and give our ideas greater depth.
A younger writer may write with the excitement of discovery, while an older writer can draw upon a lifetime of observations and experiences.
Neither has a monopoly on creativity.
My own writing journey has reinforced my belief that retirement does not mean retiring our imagination. There are still stories to tell, ideas to explore, and lessons to share.
We may retire from a profession, but we need not retire from our passion.

❤️ The Courage to Begin Something New
Every new undertaking begins with uncertainty. We wonder whether we possess the necessary skills, whether our efforts will succeed, and whether our work will matter to anyone.
The temptation to remain within familiar boundaries can be powerful.
Yet, if we never try, we may never discover what we are capable of achieving.
Writing seven books required me to embrace the process rather than worry constantly about the destination. There were pages to write, ideas to develop, and challenges to overcome. Progress came through consistent effort, not through waiting for perfect inspiration.
This is a lesson that applies to every aspect of life. Whether we want to learn a language, cultivate a hobby, travel to a new place, or pursue a long-delayed dream, the first step is often the most important.
As the familiar saying reminds us, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
We do not have to feel completely ready. Sometimes, we become ready by beginning.

❤️ Success Is Also About Personal Fulfilment
We often measure success through awards, recognition, money, or public appreciation. While these things can be encouraging, they do not tell the whole story.
For me, the deeper reward of writing has been the opportunity to express myself, organise my thoughts, continue learning, and share something meaningful with readers.
There is a special satisfaction in completing a project that once existed only as an idea in the mind.
The process reminds us that our abilities can continue to grow when we nurture them with patience and commitment.
More importantly, it teaches us not to underestimate ourselves. The limits we imagine are not always the limits of our potential.
Sometimes, all we need is the willingness to take our first step and the determination to keep going.

❤️ My Next Project: The Journey Continues
Having written seven books after retirement, I could choose to sit back and admire what I have accomplished. Instead, I find myself looking forward to the next project.
Why? Because creativity keeps the mind active, curiosity keeps the spirit young, and new challenges give us reasons to move forward.
I do not know exactly where this next journey will lead, but that uncertainty is part of its excitement.
Perhaps that is one of life’s greatest gifts: the knowledge that our story is still being written.
We should never allow our past achievements to become the boundaries of our future possibilities. Every completed chapter can prepare us for another beginning.
❤️ What Is Your Impossible?
Dear friends, let us return to today’s writing prompt: “What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?”
My answer is writing seven books after retirement and continuing to work towards my next creative project. What once might have seemed like an ambitious undertaking has become a meaningful part of my life.
Your answer may be entirely different. Perhaps you overcame a personal struggle, learned a new skill, started a business, rebuilt your confidence, or fulfilled a dream you had carried for decades.
Whatever it is, celebrate it. Your achievement does not need to impress the entire world to hold great meaning for you.
Sometimes, the greatest victory is discovering that you are capable of far more than you ever imagined.
Let us remember that life does not come with an expiry date for dreams. As long as curiosity lives within us, there is always something new to learn, create, or accomplish.
So, dear friends, I will continue writing, exploring ideas, and preparing for my next project. My seven books belong to my journey so far, not to its conclusion.
And now, I would love to hear from you: What have you accomplished that you once thought you could never do?
Share your story in the comments. Your experience might inspire someone else to begin the journey they have been postponing.
After all, sometimes the most powerful words we can say to ourselves are:
“I never thought I could—but I did. And I am not finished yet!”

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE
If this post inspired you, show some love! 💙

Dear Verma ji,
What a deeply moving, inspiring, and beautifully articulated reflection! Reading your words is a wonderful reminder that the human spirit does not come with an expiration date, and that purpose and passion only grow richer with time.
Writing seven books post-retirement is an incredible, profound milestone. You have clearly shown that retirement is not a quiet fading into the background, but a golden threshold—a time when a lifetime of wisdom, observation, and emotional depth can finally take shape on the page. As you so eloquently put it, a younger writer writes with the excitement of discovery, but an older writer brings the depth of a life truly lived. That depth shines through every paragraph of your writing.
Your perspective on embracing the uncertainty of the next project is perhaps the most inspiring part of all. It takes immense courage and curiosity to refuse to rest on past laurels and instead ask, “What’s next?”
Thank you for sharing your journey and for reminding us all that we become ready simply by beginning. Wishing you endless inspiration, joy, and smooth flow as you embark on your eighth book!
Keep writing, inspiring, and leading the way. ✨

This is sooo true, Mr. Verma! I am back to updating my 5th book, even modifying it for better quality of print, because several people still said the tect was blurry (due to Amazon printers). Plus, the book is over 500 pages, so that makes a difference in print quality, I have learned.
You wrote, “Writing a book is much more than putting words on paper. It demands imagination, research, perseverance, and the willingness to return to a page even when inspiration seems distant.” And right now, I am uninspired to get my updates in to Amazon.

Thank you for sharing your experience so honestly, my dear friend! 🌷 Updating a book of more than 500 pages and improving its print quality is certainly a demanding task, but it also reflects your commitment to your readers and your work. I understand that inspiration doesn’t always arrive when we need it most. Sometimes, we must allow discipline to carry us forward when motivation takes a little vacation! 😊

Dear Verma’ji, there is something deeply moving about those moments when life quietly surprises us by revealing a strength we never knew we possessed. “I never thought I could, yet here I am” is more than a statement of achievement; it is a beautiful testament to the distance a person can travel through perseverance, faith and the simple courage to keep going. We often imagine that confidence must come before action, but life teaches us the opposite: sometimes we begin with trembling steps, discover our strength along the way, and only much later realise how far we have come.
What I particularly cherish about reflections like yours is their ability to remind us that our limitations are not always the boundaries we imagine them to be. Age, uncertainty, past disappointments or the opinions of others may persuade us to underestimate ourselves, but the human spirit has a remarkable habit of writing its own rebuttal. Verma’ji, your words offer encouragement without preaching, and that is a gift in itself. May we all continue to surprise ourselves, not merely by what we accomplish, but by the person we become in the process.

Dear Trishikh, thank you for such a beautiful, thoughtful, and encouraging response. 🙏💖 You have captured the essence of my reflection so eloquently. I firmly believe that confidence often grows through action, and our true potential reveals itself when we dare to step beyond our self-imposed limitations. My own journey as a writer after retirement, having written seven books and now moving towards my next project, has reinforced this belief.
Life has no fixed age for learning, creating, or beginning anew. Your words are a wonderful reminder that the greatest achievement is not merely what we accomplish, but how we grow along the way.
