A poem about an unspoken love that lives somewhere between confession and silence. It explores the ache of uncertainty, the tenderness of loving without knowing the answer, and the strange beauty of a story that was never fully written.
Between Us
Sometimes I wonder
if I should let you go—
without a goodbye,
without a confession,
and let the silence finish
what our words never could.
Perhaps tomorrow
will bring another morning,
new flowers,
a different light.
But tonight,
let me miss you
without asking why.
I never knew
what we were to each other—
a passing moment,
an unfinished story,
or two hearts
afraid to speak
the same truth.
You never told me
what lived inside your heart.
Yet your silence
spoke so gently,
so often,
that I began to mistake it
for love.
Whenever your name appears,
my pen falls silent.
Some memories
are too deep for words;
some dreams
still wake me
in the middle of the night.
And one question
has survived every silence:
Did you ever look at me
the way I looked at you?
If the answer is no,
I will still be grateful.
Because you taught my heart
how deeply it could feel,
how quietly it could ache,
and how beautifully
it could love
without being loved back.
Perhaps that is why
I never tried to forget you.
Some loves do not end.
They simply become a quiet room
inside the heart—
where no one enters,
the light never goes out,
and somewhere in the darkness,
your name is still being whispered.

Very poignant words. There are many loves and friendships throughout the world that we are never given closure on. I do agree, sometimes a relationship just becomes and empty room. Have a wonderful day. Allan

Thank you so much! 😊 One-sided love may remain unspoken, but its emotions often run deeper than words can express.
