This is a personal reflection on ageing, silence, dreams, and the healing power of writing. A trembling hand shows that time passes, but a dreaming heart stays young. In this poem, the pen is more than just a tool—it is a companion that hears the unspoken words and helps us find ourselves again.
Ultimately, the poem celebrates a simple truth: as long as we can express, dream, and create, life continues within us.

# Yes, My Pen Is Still in My Hand #
Today,
my pen refuses to write.
I have a heart full of words,
memories crowding my mind,
yet every sentence
dies before reaching the page.
Perhaps my hands have grown old,
perhaps they tremble now—
but my dreams
have never learned to age.
There are things
my lips cannot say,
feelings too deep to express,
so I leave them quietly
at the doorstep of my pen.
Life has placed
many stones in my path.
Some dreams were bruised,
some hopes turned into scars,
and sometimes
I lost myself while carrying
the expectations of others.
Yet I refuse to surrender.
Let time wrinkle my face.
Let my footsteps become slower.
Inside me,
a young heart still runs
towards tomorrow.
My pen knows my secrets—
the tears behind my smile,
the battles I never spoke about,
the dreams I still keep within.
So, my dear pen,
forgive me for our quarrels.
When the world becomes silent,
you remain beside me.
Today, my trembling hand
finds you again,
and I know
I will find myself too.
Yes, I have learned
one simple truth:
Age may weaken the hand,
but it cannot silence
a dreaming heart.
So let the ink flow.
Let the pain become poetry,
let the silence become a song,
and let these remaining pages
carry the feelings and words
my heart still wants to say.
As long as I can write,
I am not growing old—
because my pen is still in my hand.

Beautiful disclosure of the dilemma between the desire for expression and the need to protect what has taken refuge inside … this resonates with me.

Thank you so much for these beautiful words. ❤️
You have captured the central feeling of the poem so beautifully—the strange dilemma between wanting to let our words flow and wanting to protect the emotions and memories we quietly carry within us.

Verma ji, this is nothing short of breathtaking. 💫
Your words carry the quiet strength of a soul that has lived, loved, lost, and still chooses to rise. The way you’ve woven trembling hands with an ageless dreaming heart—it moved me deeply. There’s a rare vulnerability here, but also a fierce resilience that only comes from genuine living.
The line “I leave them quietly at the doorstep of my pen”—that’s pure poetry. It speaks to every heart that has ever felt too much to say aloud.
Thank you for reminding us that the pen is not just an instrument, but a faithful friend; that growing older is not the end, but a different kind of beginning. Your reflection is a gift to everyone who reads it.
Keep writing, Verma ji. Your ink carries wisdom, and your voice deserves to be heard.
“As long as I can write, I am not growing old” — this will stay with me for a long time. 🙏✨

Thank you so much for these beautiful and deeply touching words. 🙏❤️
I am honestly humbled by the warmth and sensitivity with which you have read my poem.
For me, writing has always been a way of giving a voice to feelings that sometimes remain hidden behind everyday life. There are emotions we cannot easily speak about, but somehow the pen understands them.
Perhaps that is why I have always felt that my pen is not merely an instrument—it is a quiet companion that patiently listens when words fail me.

Sometimes we need to let the words, and emotions, flow. Even if we then tear them up because they’re not meant to be shared.

Absolutely. Sometimes the words are meant only for the moment, not for the world.
There are feelings that need to be written simply so that they no longer remain imprisoned inside us. Once they find their way onto the page, perhaps we can breathe a little easier—even if that page is later torn up and thrown away.

Thank you so much, Sir, for such a thoughtful and encouraging comment. Your words truly touched me.
For me, writing has always been a way of having a conversation with life—sharing not only the happy moments, but also the uncertainties, memories, mistakes, lessons, and little everyday experiences that make life what it is. I have never wanted my blog to present a perfect life; I simply want it to present an honest one.

A deeply moving reflection on ageing, memory, and the quiet companionship of the pen. The trembling hand may remind us that time is passing, but the dreaming heart reminds us that life is still unfolding. Sometimes writing does not merely express what is within us, it helps us rediscover the self we thought we had lost. As long as there are words, dreams, and the courage to create, the inner journey continues. ✍️

Thank you so much for these beautiful and thoughtful words. 🙏❤️ You have captured the very essence of what I was trying to express.
I strongly believe that ageing may change our hands, our pace, and our appearance, but it need not diminish our dreams or our desire to create. In fact, sometimes the passing years help us discover a deeper version of ourselves.
