# Through the Fallen Leaves #

There are moments when nature becomes our quietest teacher. A fallen leaf, a flowing river, an old tree, or the silence of an evening can sometimes tell us what words cannot.

This poem was born from one such quiet moment in a little park—where the changing seasons reminded me that life, too, is constantly changing. We lose people, memories, dreams, and sometimes parts of ourselves, yet the journey continues.

Perhaps life is not always about holding on. Sometimes it is about accepting what has passed, finding courage in the present, and taking the next step with hope.

Through the Fallen Leaves

I walk through the fallen leaves
that cover the earth like memories—
golden, fragile,
and quietly fading.

The trees say nothing,
yet I hear them speak
of seasons that have passed.
They seem to whisper:
I have faced your storms;
I have found the courage
to stand again.

Sometimes I sit beneath an old tree
and simply look at the sky.
No questions.
No answers.
Just me and the silence.

The river keeps moving,
never asking yesterday to return.
The birds keep singing,
as if they know
that every morning is a song.

I watch a leaf drift down
and wonder—
was its falling an ending,
or simply another beginning?

Perhaps life is much the same.

We lose people, moments, dreams,
and sometimes pieces of ourselves.
Yet somehow,
we keep walking.

Yes, this little park reminds me:

Life does not ask us
to hold on to everything.
Sometimes it simply asks us
to breathe,
let go,
and take the next step.

So I walk on—
beneath the trees,
through the fallen leaves,
with a lighter heart.

The path may change,
the seasons may pass,
but there is always
a beautiful morning ahead. ❤️

  1. A good way to look back at life Verma-ji. Sometimes when I am out in nature in the seasons, I have a sense of being there before, a sound, a sight or a smell can bring a lot of memories flooding back. The smell of new mown hay, spring green growth or autumn leaves takes me to a place and time I had long forgotten. Our sense of time may not be accurate. Perhaps it is not a straight line but a curving loop like the river or the winds. Have a great day. Allan

    • Thank you, Allan, for such a thoughtful reflection. 🌿🍂 I completely agree that nature has a remarkable way of unlocking memories that we thought had disappeared. Sometimes a particular fragrance, sound, or sight can transport us instantly to another time and place.

I especially love your thought that time may not be a straight line, but a curving loop like a river or the wind. Perhaps our memories live outside ordinary time, waiting for the right moment—a familiar scent, a season, or a landscape—to bring them gently back to us.

  6. I embrace your perspective, Sir V. A fallen leaf does not signal an end but a transformation. Trees get to reinvent themselves time and again. They replace their crowning glory after a season. We can take a cue from that, right?

You are absolutely right—the fallen leaf is not a symbol of defeat, but of renewal and transformation. Nature teaches us that letting go is often the first step toward growing again.

  7. What a beautiful reflection! 🍂🌿 There’s a silent poetry in realizing that, like the leaves, we too can let go of the past and continue moving forward, lighter and with hearts open to the new. May the river teach us to flow, the trees to resist, and each morning remind us that there is always a new beginning. 🌤️❤️

Thank you for this sensitive and inspiring sharing! May your week be light, serene, and full of beautiful mornings. Have an excellent week everyone! 😊🌷🙏🏻✨

  9. Perhaps the deepest lesson of nature is that nothing truly remains unchanged. The leaf does not resist its falling, the river does not turn back for yesterday, and the tree does not stop growing because a season has passed.

Human life is much the same. We suffer when we try to hold permanently what was meant to change. Acceptance does not mean forgetting; it means allowing the past to remain meaningful without allowing it to prevent the present from unfolding.

Perhaps letting go is not an act of loss, but an act of trust the quiet faith that when one season ends, life is still capable of offering another morning.

Sometimes the next step becomes visible only after we stop looking back.

    • Beautifully expressed. 🍂🌿 I especially love the thought that acceptance is not forgetting, but allowing the past to remain meaningful without preventing the present from unfolding. That is such a gentle and powerful way to understand letting go.

Nature teaches us this lesson so quietly. The leaf falls, the river moves forward, and the tree prepares for another season without clinging to the one that has passed. Perhaps we too must learn to trust the journey a little more.
