Hello dear friends,
I hope this Blog finds you in a cheerful mood.
Today’s writing prompt asks a beautiful question: “What’s a cultural tradition from your country that you love?”
India is a land where traditions are not merely customs passed from one generation to another—they are living threads that connect our past with our present.
If I had to choose one tradition that I deeply cherish, it would be celebrating festivals together with family, friends, neighbours, and the wider community.

❤️Festivals Are More Than Celebrations
India has countless festivals—Diwali, Holi, Eid, Christmas, Durga Puja, Pongal, Baisakhi, Onam, Chhath and many more. Each has its own history, rituals, food, music and symbolism.
Yet beneath their differences lies something wonderfully common: togetherness.
A festival gives us a reason to pause our busy lives, visit loved ones, exchange greetings, share food and create memories. In an increasingly individualistic world, this simple tradition of celebrating together feels precious.

❤️The Joy of Sharing
One of my favourite aspects of Indian culture is the tradition of preparing special food during festivals and sharing it with others.
Food is rarely just food in India. It carries memories, affection and identity.
A plate of homemade sweets offered to a neighbour can say, “You are part of our happiness.” A family sitting together for a festive meal can turn an ordinary house into a place filled with laughter and warmth.
From laddoos and gujiya to thekua and festive delicacies from different regions, every dish tells a story.

❤️Tradition Meets Community
What makes Indian festivals particularly special is that celebration often extends beyond the family.
Neighbours participate. Children play together. Communities decorate streets and homes. People visit one another and exchange greetings. In many places, festivals become collective celebrations where differences of age, language, background and social status temporarily disappear.
I have always felt that this community spirit is one of India’s greatest strengths.
A festival reminds us that happiness becomes richer when it is shared.
❤️Passing the Torch to the Next Generation
Traditions also teach children where they come from.
When grandparents tell stories, parents explain rituals, and children participate in celebrations, culture becomes something they experience rather than something they merely read about.
Of course, traditions should not remain frozen in time. We can preserve their meaning while allowing their form to evolve. A good tradition is not a museum piece; it is something that continues to breathe with every generation.

❤️The Tradition I Want to Preserve
For me, the most beautiful part of Indian culture is not any particular ritual, dress, decoration or dish.
It is the tradition of coming together.
We may speak different languages, follow different customs and celebrate different festivals, but the desire to share joy, respect elders, welcome guests and remain connected to our community is remarkably universal.
Perhaps that is why festivals remain so close to my heart.
They remind us that life is not meant to be lived entirely alone. We need people with whom we can share our laughter, our food, our stories and even our silence.
Traditions give us roots, but togetherness gives those roots meaning.
And if there is one cultural tradition I hope we never lose, it is this beautiful habit of celebrating life together.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

Thanks for sharing that. It’s nice to know you’re originally from Dundee, Scotland, and now living in Orlando, Florida. As for the trading opportunity, I appreciate you thinking of me, but I’m very cautious about investment offers, especially those promising quick or faster rewards. I’d need to understand exactly how it works, the risks involved, and the company’s credentials before considering anything. For now, I’d prefer not to invest.

What a beautiful and heartfelt reflection, Verma ji. You’ve captured the very soul of Indian festivals—the way they dissolve boundaries and weave communities together through shared joy and shared food.
Your observation that “happiness becomes richer when it is shared” resonates deeply. In a world that often pulls us apart, the tradition of coming together feels like a quiet act of resistance—a reminder that we are, at our core, social beings meant to celebrate life in each other’s company.
And how true that traditions are not museum pieces but living, breathing practices that evolve with each generation. The way you connect food, memory, and identity is particularly moving—it’s not just about eating; it’s about feeding relationships.
Thank you for this warm reminder that the heart of India beats not in any single ritual, but in the beautiful, messy, colourful togetherness that festivals bring. 🙏

Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. ❤️ You have expressed the essence of my reflection even more beautifully.
I especially love your phrase “feeding relationships.” That is exactly what our festivals often do. Food, traditions, stories, laughter, and shared celebrations nourish not only our bodies but also the bonds that hold families and communities together.

Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️ I completely understand—togetherness doesn’t always need a large gathering. Sometimes, a small group of people we genuinely connect with can bring the greatest warmth and joy.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and generous words. ❤️ I’m delighted that the reflection resonated with you. I truly believe that our traditions become meaningful when they bring people closer and create moments of sharing, connection, and belonging.
In today’s increasingly disconnected world, preserving that spirit of togetherness feels more important than ever. After all, a tradition may tell us where we come from, but togetherness reminds us that we don’t have to walk the journey alone. 🙏✨

Beautiful! Togetherness is a bond people share across cultures, and it’s what keeps societies alive. I’m also reminded of it by what is happening in my region right now, and by people coming together in good and bad times. Thank you for sharing this with us!

I think you have nailed it here. Festivals, holy days and special events are only special when you share them, with family, with friends, with neighbours. They are an excuse to come together and socialize over food and the day. Have a great day. Allan

Thank you so much, Allan! 😊 I completely agree. Festivals and special occasions become truly meaningful when they give us a reason to pause, gather, share a meal, laugh together, and create memories with family, friends, and neighbours.
The food may bring us to the table, but it is the companionship and shared moments that make the celebration special. ❤️
