Celebrating the Silent Strength Behind Our Lives

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood and surrounded by the people who matter most.

Today is Father’s Day, and as a father myself, I find this occasion deeply meaningful. It is not merely a date on the calendar but a beautiful reminder of the love, sacrifices, and quiet strength that fathers bring into our lives every single day.

We often hear that mothers wear their hearts on their sleeves. Fathers, on the other hand, have a different way of expressing love. They may not always say, “I love you,” but they show it through long working hours, sleepless nights, practical advice, and unwavering support.

“A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow.”

Fathers are the silent steersmen of our lives. They guide us through storms, celebrate our victories from the sidelines, and stand firmly behind us when the world seems uncertain.

Their love is often expressed through actions rather than words.

As children, many of us remember our fathers teaching us how to ride a bicycle, helping with school projects, fixing broken toys, or encouraging us after our failures.

At the time, these moments seemed ordinary. As adults, we realize they were extraordinary expressions of love.

There is a beautiful saying:

“Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.”
— Anne Geddes

A father doesn’t just provide financially; he provides emotionally. He instills values, teaches resilience, and becomes a living example of responsibility and integrity.

Consider the story of Rahul and his father, Rajesh.

After losing his mother at a young age, Rahul’s world changed forever. Yet his father stepped into both roles with courage and determination. Rajesh worked tirelessly to provide for his son while ensuring that Rahul never felt alone.

He listened patiently to endless questions, attended school events, shared bedtime stories, and encouraged Rahul to chase his dreams.

Years later, on Father’s Day, Rahul decided to express what words had long struggled to convey.

He handcrafted a greeting card filled with gratitude and heartfelt memories. Early that morning, he prepared breakfast for his father—the very way Rajesh had lovingly done for him throughout his childhood.

As Rajesh opened the door to find his son standing there with breakfast in hand and tears in his eyes, he realized that the greatest reward of fatherhood isn’t recognition from the world; it’s knowing that love has come full circle.

They embraced, laughed, remembered difficult days, and created new memories together.

That is the essence of fatherhood.

Fatherhood isn’t just emotionally important; studies have shown its profound impact on children’s development.

According to research from the National Center for Fathering, children with actively involved fathers are more likely to:

  • Perform better academically.
  • Develop stronger self-esteem.
  • Build healthier relationships.
  • Demonstrate greater emotional resilience.
  • Avoid risky behaviors during adolescence.

Similarly, reports suggest that children who have positive relationships with their fathers often exhibit stronger social skills and increased confidence.

These findings remind us that a father’s presence matters—not perfection, but presence.

Many life lessons come from fathers without ever being written in books:

  • Keep your word.
  • Work hard, even when no one notices.
  • Treat others with respect.
  • Stand up after every setback.
  • Protect those you love.
  • Face challenges with dignity.

Perhaps the greatest lesson of all is perseverance.

“My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”
— Clarence Budington Kelland

Children learn more from what fathers do than from what they say.

Father’s Day is a wonderful celebration, but fathers deserve appreciation throughout the year.

  • A phone call to ask how they’re doing.
  • A handwritten note.
  • Sharing a cup of tea together.
  • Listening to their stories for the hundredth time.

Saying those simple yet powerful words:

“Thank you.”
“I appreciate you.”
“I love you, Dad.”

These gestures may seem small, but they mean the world.

As fathers ourselves, let us also remember that our children do not expect perfection. They simply need our presence, our patience, and our love.

Today, let us celebrate every father—the biological fathers, single fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, adoptive fathers, and father figures who have shaped lives through their kindness and sacrifice.

To all the amazing dads reading this: thank you for your strength, your guidance, your silent prayers, and the countless ways you show love every day.

May we continue to cherish them, honour them, and learn from them—not only on Father’s Day but throughout our lives.

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible fathers around the world.

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful words and for highlighting the profound impact fathers have beyond their visible roles. 💙

You’re absolutely right—research continues to affirm what many of us have experienced firsthand: a father’s presence, encouragement, and unconditional support help nurture resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in children. Often, it is the everyday gestures—the patient listening, the quiet sacrifices, the reassuring presence—that shape lives in the most meaningful ways.

  2. My father was someone who respected his children’s opinions.🥰

Yet, I regret not having a birthday party for my father, even though I did have one for my mother.😣

I believe my father was more loving and a more respectable person.😊💗💗💗

    • Thank you for sharing such a tender memory. 🥰💗

A father who respected his children’s opinions gave them one of life’s greatest gifts—the confidence to think for themselves and the assurance that their voices mattered. That kind of love and respect leaves a lasting imprint on the heart.

Please don’t be too hard on yourself about not having celebrated his birthday the way you wished. Regret often comes from love that still wants to express itself. The truth is, fathers rarely measure our affection by parties or grand gestures. They cherish the respect we carry for them, the values we uphold, and the love we remember them with.

  3. Beautifully said, Verma ji! 🙏

Your words truly capture the essence of what it means to be a father—not just the provider, but the quiet anchor of the family. The story of Rahul and Rajesh moved me deeply; it’s a reminder that love shows up in the simplest, most consistent acts of care.

As a father yourself, your reflections carry such authenticity. Thank you for honoring not just biological fathers, but all the father figures who step up with courage and grace.

Wishing you and every dad out there a very Happy Father’s Day. May we all strive to be the kind of fathers our children can look up to—not because we’re perfect, but because we’re present. ❤️

God bless you and your family!

    • Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. 🙏❤️

Your reflection beautifully echoes what I hoped to convey—that fatherhood is less about perfection and more about presence. The story of Rahul and Rajesh may have been simple, but it represents countless fathers whose love is expressed not through grand gestures, but through quiet sacrifices, steadfast support, and showing up every single day.

  5. Interesting that your Fathers’ Day is today. Ours is this coming Sunday. Nice to see differences around the world and yet know that we are so much the same. My father was not as hands on as many, but he did teach me many skills, especially about farming. Then when I offered to stay on the farm to help him, he gave me the greatest gift of all…he told me I could do much better than him and to go out and find my own way. I tried to instill similar values in my 2 boys, teaching them the things I knew, instilling in them the feeling that they could do anything that they were passionate about and to b truthful and honest. Both boys succeeded far beyond me. All I want from them now is time spent together and shared experiences. That is my gift of choice on any day, not just Fathers’ Day. Happy Fathers’ Day. Allan
