A contemplative poem about finding peace in silence, embracing life’s imperfections, and learning to live with gratitude and emotional honesty. Through gentle imagery and quiet reflection, the poem celebrates healing, resilience, and the beauty of living softly yet deeply.

# Walking With Life #

I no longer search
for noise to fill my days.
I sit beside silence now,
like a bosom friend
who understands my wounds
without asking questions.

There is a strange comfort
in being alone with my thoughts.
The world slows down there.
Breath becomes prayer,
and peace arrives softly
like evening rain upon tired earth.

Life has never moved
in straight lines for me.
It bends, twists, disappears,
then suddenly opens
into unexpected skies.

Sometimes I lose myself
inside the chaos.
Sometimes I rise from it
with new hopes.

There are mornings
when I feel a coolness within—
a quiet sunrise
touching the corners of my soul.
Not loud,
not dramatic,
just gentle light
teaching darkness how to leave.

Yes, I have learned that
life is not a race toward perfection.
It is an invitation
to feel everything deeply—
love, loss, hope, longing—
and still choose gratitude.

So I hold this life carefully,
with both hands and an open heart.
I try to live fully,
love honestly,
and smile in every season
I am given.

And perhaps
this quiet way of living
is my purest form of love.

  1. What a beautiful, soulful poem, Verma ji. You’ve woven silence into a friend, imperfection into an invitation, and gratitude into a quiet sunrise. The image of breath becoming prayer and peace arriving “like evening rain upon tired earth” is simply stunning. This piece doesn’t just speak of healing—it is healing, held gently in both hands. Thank you for reminding us that living softly is its own deep courage. 🙏

    • That’s such a generous reading of the piece—thank you.

I really like how you noticed the quieter layers in it: not just the words, but the pauses between them. That idea of “living softly” as courage especially stands out—it’s one of those things we often forget while chasing louder versions of strength.

  2. A beautifully gentle reflection—capturing the quiet strength found in acceptance, gratitude, and learning to move through life with softness and emotional clarity. 🌿✨

    • That’s a really graceful way to frame it. 🌿

There’s a kind of strength that doesn’t announce itself—it doesn’t push or resist, it simply stays open. Acceptance isn’t about agreeing with everything life brings, but about loosening the struggle against what’s already here. And in that loosening, things often become clearer, not heavier.

  3. It’s so true that we “search for noise” to fill the silence. This is a quiet, lovely, serene poem.

    • I really like how you put that—“search for noise to fill the silence.” It’s honest. A lot of the time, silence feels less like emptiness and more like exposure, so we rush to cover it up.

But the quiet you’re pointing to in the poem isn’t a void—it’s more like a space that stops demanding anything from us. When we can stay with it, even briefly, it starts to feel less intimidating and more like a kind of shelter.

    Sometimes I feel everything
    Too deeply
    And it can be
    Like digging a hole.
