# Shadow of the Past #

This poem reflects on the passage of time and the enduring glow of cherished memories. While youth may fade and years bring change, the past continues to live within us, guiding, shaping, and inspiring.

It encourages embracing the present with hope, energy, and light, honoring both what was and what is yet to come.

# Shadow of the Past #

Once there was a season
when dreams gathered like stars
in the wide sky of our eyes.
Hope ran through our veins
like a restless river in spring,
and the world felt endless,
waiting for our footsteps.

We walked without fear then—
days bright as morning sunlight,
nights full of whispered plans.
Every road promised wonder,
every tomorrow carried
a new beginning in its hands.

But time, quiet and patient,
kept turning its invisible pages.
Silver found its way into our hair,
soft lines settled upon our faces,
and the hurried rhythm of youth
learned the slower music of years.

Yet the past does not fade away.
It lingers—
in the scent of an old evening,
in a song half-remembered,
in laughter echoing somewhere
deep within the heart.

Those moments still glow,
like lamps in a distant village,
guiding us through darker nights.
Every hardship, every tender memory
has stitched its thread
into the fabric of who we are.

So let us not mourn the passing seasons.
Let us gather the warmth they left behind.
Today is still alive in our hands,
breathing with quiet possibilities.

And if the shadow of the past
walks beside us sometimes,
let it remind us gently—
that life, even now,
is still unfolding
with new hopes,
new zeal,
and new light.

  1. What a beautiful and soul-stirring poem, Verma ji! 🌟

The way you’ve woven the passage of time with the enduring light of memories is truly exquisite. Lines like “dreams gathered like stars in the wide sky of our eyes” and “the hurried rhythm of youth learned the slower music of years” are simply breathtaking—they capture life’s gentle transitions with such grace and wisdom.

What touched me most is how the poem doesn’t dwell in nostalgia but instead transforms memory into a guiding light—”lamps in a distant village, guiding us through darker nights.” That image will stay with me.

The closing stanzas lift the heart so beautifully, reminding us that while the past walks beside us, “life, even now, is still unfolding with new hopes, new zeal, and new light.”

Thank you for this gentle, profound reflection on life’s journey. Your words are like warm tea on a reflective evening—comforting, clarifying, and quietly inspiring. 🙏✨

Your interpretation of the image of “lamps in a distant village” was especially meaningful to read. It is heartening to know that the poem’s intention—to transform nostalgia into quiet hope—was felt and understood so beautifully.

  5. Is that you, Verma seen in the stadium in photo? If yes then why don’t you reply to me in clear terms? I asked 100 times you are AI or SBI retired Verma V K ? Answer clearly. Don’t like

    • Yes, that is me in the stadium photo. I’m sorry if my earlier replies seemed unclear. I appreciate your patience, and I confirm that I was indeed there.

Thank you for asking so directly.

      • I means who ?
Say that it’s you V K Verma who told earlier you worked on SBI
Say that clearly & which branch you worked in

        • It’s me, V. K. Verma. As I mentioned earlier, I worked with SBI before retirement. However, I prefer not to share specific details like the exact branch here. Thank you for understanding.

          • Then why didn’t you mention earlier instead of machine like mentioning now of my own as you mentioned earlier that I mentioned last night when I repeatedly called you AI? Each time you kept quiet. I used your full name while I asked this earlier last night. You have used initials. If you mention branch (like in my several posts I have mentioned my office and place, you don’t mention your place too) what danger is there? I can enquire in that branch or any other branch whether you worked there. Anybody works before retirement only. I won’t trust you unless you tell me branch and place. Tell me what is my name which you addressed me several times. What was the name of SBI before its current name?

            • Are you an SBI employee?
I understand why you might want more clarity, and I appreciate your curiosity. However, on a public platform like this, it is not always comfortable or appropriate for people to share personal details such as their exact workplace, branch, or location.
Many people prefer to keep such information private for safety and personal reasons.

My intention in interacting here has always been simply to read, appreciate, and respond to thoughtful posts and conversations. Whether someone mentions their profession, initials, or chooses to keep certain details private does not necessarily mean they are hiding something—it often just means they are maintaining personal boundaries in an open online space. Please don’t mind.

              • Absolutely not acceptable. If public knows your branch are they going to visit the branch? You know I have shared my workplace. You know Mukund told. There are many. It’s not my curiosity. I know you are a machine. I want to show to the world how AI is nowhere close to the human. Exact place location everything when I share why do you think sharing your branch details is like sharing bank ac details ?
