Behind My Smile

You see my smile so bright and free,
But I’ve spent my nights in shadows of pain.
You admire the sparkle in my eyes,
Yet tears remain locked, my silence in vain.

You seek sweetness in my gentle words,
While I’ve heard my silence scream aloud.
You wish my path adorned with flowers,
But I have walked where thorns crowd.

You count the years as they pass with grace,
I’ve watched loved ones change and stray.
You bask in the warmth of cherished bonds,
I’ve seen them freeze and drift away.

You sing of spring and cheerful tunes,
I’ve watched my dreams fall like autumn leaves.
You speak of love in endless bloom,
I’ve seen love ache and silently grieve.

You search for rhythm in my verse,
While tears have shaped my lines in sorrow.
You paint the hues of hope and light,
But I’ve nursed darkness for each tomorrow.

You steal moments of joy and laughter,
I’ve seen life weep through endless streams.
You notice only my radiant smile,
But I’ve wrapped my pain within its beams.
