#A Morning Walk with “Mann Ki Baat”

Today’s morning walk was a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. After two days of continuous rain, the clear sky felt like a blessing.

My group of senior citizen friends and I decided to take advantage of the pleasant weather. As always, after a brisk walk, we gathered in the park, where our chats often spanned topics as broad as politics and life.

As we sat in the park, someone remarked, “If Modi ji can do ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ then why can’t we?” We chuckled in agreement, ready to share our thoughts, opinions, and, let’s be honest, a bit of gossip.

But today, it wasn’t Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” that took center stage—it was Sharma Ji. He was in an exceptionally buoyant mood.

With a beaming smile, he declared, “Yesterday, I made a profit of two lakhs on my shares!” Well, that certainly got our attention. While some of us raised an eyebrow, others offered their congratulations, with a mix of admiration and envy.

Morning Walks: Laughter and Life Lessons

After soaking in our responses, Sharma Ji, always the entertainer, decided to take things up a notch. “I have a question for you all,” he announced, suddenly wearing the air of a quizmaster.

We all leaned in, expecting some deep insight into stock market strategies or perhaps political musings.

“What’s the definition of a girl?” he asked, eyes twinkling with mischief.

We were taken aback. A couple of us exchanged glances, wondering if Sharma Ji had just come back from a cocktail party. But before we could recover from the surprise, he continued with an air of importance, as if he had just cracked the code to the universe.

“A girl,” he began, “is defined as follows:

G – stands for Gussa Hamesha Naak Par—anger always on the nose.

I – stands for Itrane Mein Sabse Aage—the front runner in showing off.

R – stands for Rone Ki Automatic Machine—a crying machine at the drop of a hat.

L – stands for Ladne Mein Sabki Naani—the champion of fights, and yet, my son is crazy about her!”😂😂

The park echoed with laughter. Even the birds seemed to join in. As the meaning of his words sunk in, we realized he wasn’t talking about just any girl—he was referring to his daughter-in-law.

Apparently, she had given him a piece of her mind the previous evening, leading to some good old-fashioned “nok-jhok” (light banter).

Sharma Ji had turned what could have been a grumpy, father-in-law rant into a humorous take on family life.

As the laughter died down, we couldn’t help but appreciate his sense of humor and the fact that he could laugh at his own situation.

Our impromptu laughing exercise was complete for the day. Who needed yoga when Sharma Ji was around?

The conversation continued, touching on politics, the weather, and, of course, stock tips (with Sharma Ji now the unspoken expert in our group). But the highlight remained his light-hearted “Mann Ki Baat” on family dynamics.

It’s moments like these that make our morning walks memorable—not just the exercise, but the shared stories, the jokes, and the laughter that bonds us together as a group of friends. No matter how old we get, humor is the one thing that keeps us young at heart.

As we wrapped up, Sharma Ji’s parting words still echoed in my ears: “Ladna to chalta hai yaar, lekin hasna zaroori hai” (Fights are inevitable, but laughter is essential).

And on that note, we dispersed, with lighter hearts and brighter spirits, ready to face the day.
