Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Dussehra

Dear Friends,

Today, we come together to celebrate Dussehra with great fervor and enthusiasm. This festival holds deep historical and spiritual significance, marking the victory of good over evil.

As we rejoice, it’s important to reflect on the essence of Dussehra and the powerful stories associated with this day in Hindu mythology.

Dussehra is observed on Shukla Paksha Dashami during the month of Ashwin, according to the Hindu lunar calendar, and it follows the grand celebration of Maha Navami, concluding the auspicious period of Shardiya Navratri.

Dussehra is linked to two epic victories in Hindu mythology. First, it commemorates the day when Goddess Durga triumphed over the demon Mahishasura after a fierce battle lasting over nine days.

In her many-armed form, Maa Durga symbolizes the embodiment of divine strength, courage, and compassion.

Secondly, Dussehra celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over the ten-headed demon king Ravana.

This story, from the Ramayana, represents the triumph of dharma (righteousness) over adharma (evil), and Lord Rama’s victory is an eternal reminder that goodness, truth, and justice will always prevail.

Maa Durga’s eight arms represent the eight powers within each of us. Navratri, which precedes Dussehra, is a time to invoke these powers, cleanse ourselves of inner demons, and awaken the divinity within.

Here are the eight inner powers we can all draw upon:

  1. Power to Withdraw:
In challenging situations, we need to withdraw from the chaos and remain calm. Instead of reacting impulsively, staying composed helps us respond with clarity and peace.

Affirmation: “I detach from the chaos around me. I connect to my inner strength and respond with peace. I conquer the demons of ego and anger.”
  2. Power to Let Go:
Emotional baggage—whether it’s past pain, guilt, or negative habits—only holds us back. Letting go allows us to embrace new, positive ways of thinking and living.

Affirmation: “I release everything that weighs me down. I remain light and free. I defeat the demons of dependency and hurt.”
  3. Power to Withstand:
Understanding that people who display negativity are often in pain themselves helps us accept them with compassion. This resilience strengthens us emotionally.

Affirmation: “I empathize with others’ pain. My acceptance and respect heal them. I overcome the demons of arrogance and rejection.”
  4. Power to Accept:
Acceptance doesn’t mean complacency; it means not wasting energy on judgment. By accepting things as they are, we remain in the present and focus on solutions.

Affirmation: “I am at peace with what is. I accept and flow with life, knowing my mind is stable. I conquer the demons of expectation and sorrow.”
  5. Power to Understand:
Often, we are misled by appearances. Through self-awareness and meditation, we can feel the true energy of people and situations.

Affirmation: “I discern the truth behind appearances. I defeat the demons of criticism and misunderstanding.”
  6. Power to Make Decisions:
Making decisions from a place of clarity and confidence is key. While advice is helpful, taking responsibility for our choices empowers us.

Affirmation: “I make decisions with clarity and conviction. I defeat the demons of doubt and confusion.”
  7. Power to Face:
Facing challenges head-on takes courage. Whether it’s standing up against injustice or confronting personal fears, our values guide us through adversity.

Affirmation: “I face obstacles fearlessly and stay true to my values. I defeat the demons of fear and insecurity.”
  8. Power to Cooperate:
Cooperation is a powerful force. By fostering peaceful and loving relationships, we create harmony and empowerment within our communities.

Affirmation: “I cooperate selflessly, knowing we are all companions on life’s journey. I defeat the demons of jealousy, competition, and comparison.”

As we celebrate this joyous festival, let us remember the timeless message of Dussehra: the victory of good over evil, hope over despair, and triumph over failure.

By invoking our inner strengths, we can conquer our challenges and become victorious in our lives.

On this auspicious occasion, I pray for light to dispel the darkness in your lives and for the strength to overcome every obstacle. Believe in your power to change your circumstances, and may you always emerge victorious.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Dussehra!
May this day bring you joy, peace, and success.
