Have you ever wanted to brush shoulders with historical figures, Bollywood superstars, and even Hollywood legends?

Well, at Mother’s Wax Museum in Kolkata, you can do just that! Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting this fascinating museum with my family, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget.

Following in Madame Tussauds’ Footsteps

Inspired by the world-famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in London, Mother’s Wax Museum offers a uniquely Indian twist.

The life-like wax figures are segregated into sections, making it easy to navigate and explore different areas of interest.

A Walk Through Time

Our journey began with the “History & Leaders” section. Here, we stood alongside iconic figures like Mahatma Gandhi, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and Subhash Chandra Bose, feeling a connection to India’s rich past.

The museum doesn’t shy away from Kolkata’s own cultural heritage either, featuring statues of literary giants like Rabindranath Tagore and spiritual leaders like Swami Vivekananda.

From Cricket Champions to Bollywood Dreams

Next, we entered the world of sports, where cricketing legends like Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly stood tall. But the museum caters to all kinds of fans – we even spotted footballing greats like Lionel Messi and Maradona!

Of course, no trip to India would be complete without a Bollywood connection. Mother’s Wax Museum doesn’t disappoint! We found ourselves snapping selfies with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan. Hollywood stars like Audrey Hepburn, Tom Cruise, and Julia Roberts added a touch of international glamour.

Music to My Ears (and Heart!)

The museum truly comes alive (well, almost!) in the music section. Here, I stood in awe next to the legendary Michael Jackson and even got to virtually share a song with the likes of Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.

More Than Just Wax Figures

Mother’s Wax Museum boasts over 50 statues, featuring not just celebrities but also prominent figures like Albert Einstein. The incredibly realistic figures had us marveling at the artistry and detail. Everyone in our group found their favorite statue to pose with, creating lasting memories.

A Fun-Filled Day Out

After a delightful hour of exploring the museum, we grabbed a bite to eat at the convenient cafe on the sixth floor. We then capped off the evening by soaking in the breathtaking views of Kolkata from the rooftop.
