#Thread of Blessings#

Daily writing prompt
What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?

Hey everyone,

Hope you’re all doing well! Today, I want to share something special, a little piece of me that transcends trends and fleeting fancies. It’s a reminder that some things hold a magic that only time can deepen.

Prompted by a recent question about the oldest item I own, my mind drifted to a cherished relic: my pendant.

This isn’t just any accessory; it’s a companion that’s adorned my neck for years. I vividly recall being a little firecracker, resistant to the world of “wearing things.” But then came my mother, her gentle hands carefully placing a silver pendant with the Om symbol around my neck. There was another too, a round copper pendant on a black thread, tied around my waist.

While little- me wasn’t exactly thrilled about the new additions, Mom patiently explained their significance. “These,” she said,( her voice filled with warmth,) “will shield you from negativity and the evil eye.” In her eyes, they weren’t just trinkets; they were shields, protectors.

Today, I wear that silver pendant not just as a reminder of her words, but as a constant source of her love. It’s more than metal; it’s a tangible expression of her blessing.

Sometimes, when faced with challenges, I find myself unconsciously reaching for it, holding the cool metal between my fingers, and bringing it to my forehead in a silent prayer. It’s a small gesture, but in that moment, I feel a surge of strength, a whisper of Mom’s unwavering support urging me forward.

This pendant has become a symbol of resilience. It’s a testament to the enduring power of a mother’s love, a love that transcends time and even physical presence. Every year, during Durga Puja, a cherished tradition in our family, we replace the worn thread with a fresh one.

It’s a small act of renewal, a way to keep her memory and her love alive. The waist pendant eventually faded from my daily wear, but the one around my neck has remained a constant.

Though Mom no longer be with us in the physical sense, her blessings, like an invisible thread, continue to weave their magic. They fill me with unwavering confidence and a heart brimming with the joy of her love.

And this little pendant? It’s more than just a piece of jewelry. It’s a reminder, a whisper from the past, a promise carried close to my heart. It’s a story etched in silver, a symbol of a love that time cannot diminish.

I wear it today, and I’ll continue to wear it tomorrow, a constant companion, a silent tribute to the woman who made me who I am.

BE HAPPY….BE ACTIVE….BE FOCUSED….BE ALIVE…
