# Live Life on My Own Terms #

Embracing Joy at 63

Hello everyone,

I hope this blog finds you well. We all aspire to live a beautiful life without any obstacles. They say life begins at 40, but at 63, I’m here to tell you it gets even better.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There are days, like everyone else, when loneliness creeps in, and health concerns tap me on the shoulder. Seeing colleagues face similar challenges can feel overwhelming.

But here’s the secret: you get to choose how you react.

“Recently, I had a powerful conversation with myself. It wasn’t the usual kind of conversation I had with myself in front of the mirror after a bad hair day. This one was deep and soul-searching. It served as a wake-up call for me.

My inner voice, which is also my wisest friend, reminded me of something important – that life offers two choices: happiness or sadness. And the best part? I am in control of which one I choose.

And that’s where my exciting new chapter begins. It’s a chapter titled “Living Life on My Own Terms,” and guess what? It’s not too late for you to start yours.

Feeling lonely at 63 might seem surprising, but it’s a common thread. The good news is, loneliness doesn’t have to define us. It’s a signal, a call to action! So, I decided to tackle it head-on.

Here’s the thing: 63 is NOT old. It’s a vibrant chapter brimming with possibilities. We have a wealth of experience, wisdom, and stories to share. We can be mentors, friends, and active participants in life, not passive observers.

Taking my inner friend’s advice, I grabbed a calendar. Not to mark doctor’s appointments (though those are important too!), but to schedule activities that spark joy.

Feeling energetic? Maybe joining a walking group or a gentle fitness class is the answer. I have joined the morning walk group and enjoy Brisk walking, along with Yoga and Meditation. I have even started playing Table Tennis and swimming to feel young at heart. For the quieter moments, I also enjoy excursion tours that also enrich my soul.

The key is to find what ignites your soul. Whether it’s painting, photography, or even writing Blogs, there’s a world of possibilities waiting to be explored.

Let’s face it, sometimes the best way to combat loneliness is to connect with others. Volunteering is a fantastic way to do just that. Think about the skills and knowledge you’ve accumulated over the years. Sharing them with others, especially those less fortunate, can be incredibly rewarding.

Imagine tutoring underprivileged children. The joy of seeing their faces light up as they grasp a new concept is priceless. Or perhaps mentoring young adults starting their careers. Guiding them with your experience can make a world of difference.

Volunteering isn’t just about helping others; it’s about finding a sense of purpose and belonging. It’s about realizing that we all have something valuable to contribute, regardless of age.

Life throws curveballs. We can’t control everything, but we can control our perspective. Instead of dwelling on the past or fearing the future, let’s focus on the present moment.

Mindfulness practices like meditation or simply spending time in nature can be incredibly calming. Appreciating the beauty of a sunrise, the smell of freshly baked bread, or the laughter of a child – these simple moments hold immense joy.

Living life on your own terms isn’t about selfish indulgence. It’s about taking responsibility for your own happiness. It’s about acknowledging your fears and challenges but choosing not to be defined by them. It’s about embracing the wisdom of age and using it to create a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

Yes, there will be bumps along the road. But remember, you are the author of your story. Choose joy, choose connection, and choose to keep learning and growing. You are worthy, you are needed, and the world awaits your unique contribution.

So, my fellow adventurers, let’s rewrite the script. Let’s redefine what it means to be 63 (or any age, for that matter). Let’s trade loneliness for connection, fear for excitement, and routine for adventure.

This is our time to shine. Let’s live life on our own terms, filled with joy, purpose, and a whole lot of sunshine!

BE HAPPY….BE ACTIVE….BE FOCUSED….BE ALIVE…
