The Fortune Teller: A True Story

The Fortune Teller: A True Story

Life is like a blank sheet of paper, and we try to make it beautiful by spreading different colors on it. My life journey has also been different, which not only gives me peace of mind but also brings a smile to my face.

I was in college and preparing for the engineering entrance exam. I had also taken Biology as an extra subject in Intermediate and had passed in both. This meant that I could appear for the entrance tests for both engineering and medical.

I was hoping to qualify for either engineering or medical. I was preparing accordingly.

Then I came to know about a person who was an engineer by profession but used to predict people’s future by looking at their hands. Since he was a well-educated person and had no greed for money,

I went to his house with my friend to get my handread for free. My friend was also interested to know about his future.

When I reached there, there was a huge crowd of people. I also sat there with my friend.

After about half an hour, my turn came and I entered his chamber. Seeing him, it did not seem that he would know astrology.

Without applying sandalwood tilak and wearing ochre clothes, he looked like an ordinary person.

Anyway, after a brief introduction, he took an impression of my palms by applying ink on them and transferring them to plain paper. Then he asked me to wait for some time.

I did not understand why he needed to take an impression of my hands when he could have directly seen them.

But what difference did it make to him whether I understood or not?

I was sitting on the nearby bench, lost in those thoughts, waiting for his call.

After about half an hour, one of his men came to me and said, “Sir is calling you inside.”

I again entered his chamber with that gentleman. I sat on the chair in front of him. I felt that he had written something on a piece of paper.

Starting his talk, he said, “You had a terrible accident at the age of five and your life was barely saved.

I said, “That is true.”

In this way, he kept telling me about many past events. But I had no interest in knowing about the events that had already happened in my life. I was curious to know about the future.

So, I said impatiently, “Tell me about my future. I have come to you to know about my future.

He looked at me and asked, “What do you want to know?”

I said, “I am a student and I am preparing for the competition. Tell me whether I will qualify for medical or engineering. I am preparing for both of them.”

He looked at the piece of paper near him and said, “You will neither qualify for medical nor engineering, but you will go into some other technical line besides these.”

I was shocked to hear his words. Because there was no third technical line that I knew of and I was not preparing for any such line.

I started arguing with him, but he kept saying the same thing, that you will go into a technical line but leaving these two.

I did not believe his words, although he had told all the other things about me absolutely correctly.

I came back home sad and his words kept going through my mind.

Today, when I remember those words, I feel like believing in astrology.

Because his prediction came true. I could not get admission in either engineering or medicine.

Yes, I qualified for admission to the Agricultural College, but it was not technical at that time. I remembered his words and thought that I already knew that the prediction of admission to the third technical college would not come true.

But I would like to share the fact that the study of agriculture was declared a technical stream just one year after our admission. And in this way, his prediction came true.

I am sometimes surprised to think that there is so much information in the lines of our palm. Yes, I was studying in a technical college as per his prediction.

I think that whoever knows this science properly can give correct information about the future of people.

Two years later, I went to meet that engineer-cum-astrologer again. My respect for him had increased a lot.

I went to his house with a box of sweets, but that box of sweets remained in my hands. Because I came to know that he is no longer in this world.

His passing away at such a young age shook me to the core. I started thinking…

Did he know about the future that he would pass away at such a young age?

BE HAPPY….BE ACTIVE….BE FOCUSED….BE ALIVE…
