I Want to Look Beautiful

Not in a magazine’s glossy sheen,

Not in the mirror’s cold, harsh light,

But in the way, my heart has been,

I want lips that curve in smiles so true,

Speaking words that uplift and mend,

Words that build a bridge, where once  grew

Have only distance, and without end.

I want eyes that see beyond the shell,

To the depths where beauty hides,

Finding goodness where darkness fell,

Seeing hope where shadows reside.

I want a figure that embraces all,

Not in size, but in gentle grace,

Sharing burdens, big and small,

That leaves no empty space.

For hair, let love be the golden thread,

Woven through with laughter’s gleam,

A hand outstretched, a tear instead

When dried away, a joyful dream.

Beauty comes not from posture held so tight,

But from knowing kindness, is my guide,

Walking with the world, bathed in sunlight,

Never walking alone, always side by side.

This beauty, it cannot fade or wane,

It blooms from within, like radiant fire,

Those touching lives, easing every pain,

This legacy is only a heart’s desire.

So let me strive for beauty’s truest hue,

Not in my thoughts but in all that I do.
