My Secret Goal: A Personal Journey

In the quiet corners of our hearts, there often lies a hidden treasure – a goal so personal, so monumental, that we hesitate to share it with the world.

We guard it jealously, fearing judgment, or perhaps just the fear of admitting it to ourselves.

Today, I want to take you on a journey through my own secret ambition, one that has taken root in the depths of my being and refuses to let go: the pursuit of a century.

Yes, a century, but not in the conventional sense. I’m not talking about living for a hundred years, although that would be an extraordinary achievement in itself. No, the century I’m chasing is a different kind of landmark – a metaphorical one, a milestone of personal growth, resilience, and fulfillment.

Let me take you back to where it all began. It was a chilly autumn morning when I stumbled upon the idea of my ‘century.’

I was leafing through the pages of a worn journal, filled with dreams, ambitions, and moments of self-reflection. The pages were like a mirror to my soul, reflecting the person I was and the person I aspired to become.

I realized that life was fleeting, and I had dreams, aspirations, and passions that I had either put on the back burner or never truly pursued. It was time to change that.

My ‘century’ was born – a list of a hundred goals, big and small, that would encapsulate the essence of who I wanted to be. Each goal was a piece of the puzzle that would complete the grand picture of my life.

Every day, as I work towards my goal, I find myself more connected with life’s beauty. I cherish each sunrise and sunset, finding gratitude in every small victory and learning from every challenge.

My pursuit of a century is a journey of self-improvement, where I strive to be a better person each day. I’m committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, nurturing my relationships, and continuously seeking knowledge and wisdom.

Yes, The journey to achieve these goals has been a rollercoaster. There have been moments of exhilaration when I conquered new milestones and moments of despair when I stumbled.

But I’ve learned that the pursuit of a ‘century’ is not about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about the beauty of the journey itself, the lessons learned in every triumph and every defeat.

One goal was to write a novel. I had always been passionate about storytelling, but fear and self-doubt held me back. The process of writing that first novel was a revelation.

It was a testament to the power of persistence and the ability to conquer self-imposed limitations. When I finally held my book (yet to be published) in my hands, it wasn’t just a physical achievement; it was a manifestation of my inner growth.

Another goal involved traveling to a foreign land, immersing myself in a new culture, and learning a new language. The experiences I gained, the people I met, and the languages I acquired enriched my life beyond measure.

Yes, first, I got an opportunity for a foreign tour when I was at a Bank job, and again at the time of retirement, I visited Singapore, Malaysia, and Bangkok. I have a desire to visit some other countries as well.

The journey itself became a cherished memory, and the connections I made with people from different corners of the world became a testament to the unity of the human spirit.

One of the smaller goals was to learn to play a musical instrument. I chose the Mouth Organ. The struggle with finger placements and tune adjustment was both frustrating and fascinating.

But the day I strummed my first song, a Hindi film song, that was a moment of pure joy. It was a reminder that every step, no matter how small, was progress.

The pursuit of a ‘century’ has pushed me out of my comfort zone, taught me resilience, and nurtured my sense of purpose. It’s a testament to the idea that life is an adventure, and the journey is more important than the destination.

So, friends, here I am, sharing my secret ambition with you, hoping it might inspire you to uncover your own ‘century.’ Your century could be a journey to a hundred different destinations, each representing a dream, a goal, or a purpose.

It could be a way to make your life a masterpiece, a story that you’re proud to tell.

Remember, it’s never too late to start your journey towards your ‘century.’ Whether it’s writing that book, learning a new skill, traveling the world, swimming or any other ambition.

We should embrace the challenges, savor the victories, and revel in the growth that unfolds. Life is a beautiful tapestry of experiences, and your ‘century’ will be the masterpiece that you weave with every dream fulfilled.

So, what’s your ‘century’? What are you waiting for? It’s time to embark on the most fulfilling journey of your life, one goal at a time. The pursuit of a ‘century’ is not just a personal goal; it’s an ode to the human spirit’s boundless potential.
