#Enhance Your Eye Health with Yoga

आँसुओं से जिनकी आँखे नम नही,

क्या समझते हो कि उन्हें कोई गम नही ?

In today’s digital era, where screens dominate our lives, our eye health is at risk. Both children and adults spend a significant amount of time engaged with electronic devices, leading to increased vision problems at an early age.

Additionally, a sedentary lifestyle and the prevalence of endocrine diseases can further contribute to various vision-related issues. However, incorporating simple Yoga exercises into our daily routines can help improve eyesight and prevent eye-related problems.

As we all know that yoga has gained attention by people the world over as a means of wellness. Regular practice of yoga helps to improve organ function and maintain health.

In this blog, we will explore some effective Yoga asanas recommended by ancient Indian experts to keep our eyes healthy and sharp.

Palming:

Begin by finding a quiet and comfortable place to sit with your eyes closed. Take deep breaths to relax. Rub your palms vigorously until they become warm, and then gently place them over your closed eyelids.

Allow the warmth from your hands to be absorbed by the eyes, providing relaxation to the eye muscles. Repeat this process at least three times, ensuring complete absorption of the warmth. Palming helps soothe and rejuvenate tired eyes.

Blinking:

Blinking exercises are easy yet effective in maintaining healthy eyes. Sit comfortably with your eyes open. Blink rapidly for about 10 times and then close your eyes, relaxing for 20 seconds while focusing on your breath.

Repeat this cycle about 5 times. Blinking exercises help lubricate the eyes and reduce strain caused by prolonged screen time.

Eye Rotations:

Eye rotations are a simple yoga practice that can improve eye muscle flexibility and blood circulation. Sit in an upright position with a straight spine. Rest your hands on your lap and, without moving your head, rotate your eyes clockwise and then counterclockwise for 5-10 minutes in each direction.

Eye rotations contribute to improved eyesight by enhancing eye muscle flexibility and blood flow.

Up-Down Movement:

This yoga therapy provides relaxation to the eye muscles. Stand straight on a flat surface or a yoga mat. Look up at the ceiling, then shift your gaze to the floor, and look up again. Repeat this motion 10 times without blinking.

Afterward, close your eyes and gently press them with your palms. This exercise helps relax the eye muscles and relieve strain.

Bhramari Pranayama:

Bhramari Pranayama is a popular Yoga technique for eye health. Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position, close your eyes, and lightly press your thumbs against your ears, covering them. Place your index fingers between your eyebrows and the ring and little fingers at the base of your nostrils.

Focus your attention on the center of your eyebrows. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold your breath for 2-3 seconds, and then exhale slowly through the nose, producing a humming sound.

Repeat this process five times. Bhramari Pranayama calms the mind and enhances overall eye health.

Incorporating these exercises into your daily fitness routine can help maintain healthy vision. Additionally, Yoga recommends other suitable therapies, such as flexing and focus switching, which can further contribute to eye health.

By prioritizing the well-being of our eyes, we can reduce the risk of vision-related issues and promote overall wellness.

Friends, In today’s screen-centric world, it’s crucial to prioritize our eye health. Yoga offers simple yet effective exercises to maintain a strong vision. You do not even need any special space to do these exercises! You can simply do them in your comfort.

Incorporating practices like palming, blinking, eye rotations, up-down Eye movement, and Bhramari Pranayama into our daily routines can go a long way in preventing eye-related problems and ensuring the well-being of our eyes.

By taking care of our eyes through Yoga, we can embrace a healthier and clearer vision for years to come.

  1. These are good exercises. I do the eye rotations myself sometimes whenever my eyes feel tired, but I didn’t know that you could do it as a form of exercise. Thank you.
