My identity should not be fully defined
“My True Identity” is a poignant poem that reflects upon the acceptance and pride in one’s true self. It explores the narrator’s unwavering contentment and self-assurance, emphasizing that external appearances, religious affiliations, material possessions, or societal roles do not define one’s worth.
The poem celebrates the beauty of diversity and the strength found in embracing one’s unique identity, free from societal expectations and judgment.
I hope It will encourage readers to find solace and empowerment in being true to themselves, regardless of the world’s perception.

#My True Identity#
No, I am not saddened, for
I am not like you.
I appear as what I do,
As fashioned by the divine.
No, I am not saddened, for
My eyes are not brown,
My hair is not curly black,
Yet I appear as I am,
As fashioned by the divine.
No, I am not saddened, for
I am neither Hindu nor Muslim,
Neither Sikh nor Christian,
To me, all are the same,
No, I am not saddened, for
I have no Bungalow, no car,
No diamonds or jewels so far.
I survive on two meals a day,
Yet I find solace in peaceful sleep.
No, I am not saddened, for
I am not Bahubali, nor am I a Politician,
I do not have to run away from the police,
In this emotional journey, what I think,
No, I am not ashamed, I am proud,
For this life, my voice, I have vowed.
In embracing my true self, I find peace,
For that is the essence of my release.
