This is a tender reflection on a love that may have become distant, but never truly left the heart. It explores the power of memories, unanswered questions, and the quiet ache of missing someone who continues to live within us.
# You Still Live Here #
When the world becomes quiet
and I sit alone,
your memory walks in
without knocking.
I have tried to forget you,
but every attempt
takes me deeper into myself—
because somewhere along the way,
I became a part of you.
Some people leave our lives,
but never leave our hearts.”
I often wonder—
do you ever miss me too?
Does an old song,
a familiar evening,
or a forgotten moment
ever bring me to your mind?
I don’t know.
But I know this much—
you are still my beautiful shore
when life feels like a restless sea.
I cannot hold you,
I cannot call you mine,
yet your presence remains
in the quietest corners of my heart.
I will not promise
that I will stop remembering you.
Some memories
are not meant to fade.
They become
a part of who we are.
And whenever loneliness comes,
I know exactly who
my heart will remember.
That is you.

I remember my friend in this poem. I won’t forget her even if she doesn’t want me anymore. Thanks, Verma.

Thank you for sharing something so personal. Some people leave such a deep impression on our hearts that even when life takes us in different directions, their memory remains.
Perhaps remembering someone doesn’t always mean holding on—it can simply mean being grateful for what that person once meant to us. I hope your memories bring you warmth rather than pain. Take care, my friend. 🙏

I’ll remember her kindness rather than the pain of leaving.

Thank you, dear friend. 🙏 Sometimes the kindest way to hold someone in our heart is to remember the love and kindness they gave us rather than the pain of their absence. The memories may bring tears, but they can also bring warmth and gratitude.

Verma ji, your poem captures something very real the way an old memory can return through a song, an evening, or a quiet moment. I especially liked the honesty in not pretending to have forgotten, while also accepting that the person is no longer part of everyday life. Some memories simply stay with us, without needing an explanation. Beautifully written.

Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. ❤️
You have understood the heart of the poem so well.
Some memories do not ask for permission before returning—they arrive quietly through a song, a familiar evening, or a moment of silence.

Yes, some memories quietly become a part of who we are. Time may pass and life may change, but certain moments and people remain alive in our hearts.
Perhaps that is the beauty of memories—they remind us of where we have been and what once mattered to us. 🌿🙏

This really stayed with me, Verma ji🤍 I think we all have someone whose memory just refuses to leave, no matter how much time has passed. I loved the way you wrote about that quiet ache of missing someone without knowing if they miss you too. And “my beautiful shore” really touched me. Some people may not be a part of our lives anymore, but somehow their memories still find a little corner in our hearts. 🦋✨

Thank you so much for these beautiful and heartfelt words. 🤍 You have captured exactly what I hoped the poem would convey—that some people may leave our lives, but their memories quietly remain, finding a permanent little corner in our hearts.
That quiet ache of missing someone is perhaps one of the most human emotions we experience. We may never know whether they remember us too, yet the memories themselves can still bring warmth, tenderness, and sometimes a little smile.

This was beautiful and how memories become a part of who we are. My father died when I was twelve, but I am grateful for the movies we have and the people who knew him. Maybe that is why nostalgia stories are my favorite to write.

Thank you for sharing something so personal and meaningful. I’m sorry you lost your father at such a young age.
I can understand why the memories, photographs, movies, and stories shared by people who knew him would become precious connections to him.

Good morning, and thank you as always for your warm and thoughtful words. 🙇♂️
The phrase, “there is an unforgettable reality there,” touched my heart deeply. Memories are mysterious things; even when people are far away, they quietly return during peaceful nights and silent moments, gently touching the depths of our hearts.

Your words truly touch my heart. I believe words may not have feet, but when they come from the heart, they can travel a long way and touch another heart.
I’m grateful that my words have found a place with you.
