Hello dear friends,
I hope this Blog finds you in a cheerful mood. Today’s writing prompt question is very interesting, as I read: “What’s the best thing you’ve ever found randomly on the street?”
At first, the question made me smile. We usually think of finding something valuable as discovering money, jewellery, or an expensive object.
But sometimes, the most precious things we find on the street cannot be measured in money. They may be a forgotten photograph, an old book, a handwritten note, a lost wallet returned to its owner—or even a moment of kindness.
As the saying goes, “The best discoveries are often the ones we never set out to find.”

A Street Is Full of Stories
Every street is more than a road connecting two places. It is a stage where countless little stories unfold every day.
People hurry to work, children walk to school, vendors call out to customers, cyclists pass by, and strangers cross paths without knowing anything about one another.
And sometimes, something unexpected catches our attention.
Perhaps it is an old book lying beside a roadside stall. You pick it up, turn a few pages, and discover a sentence that speaks directly to your heart. You may have been searching for nothing, yet you have found something meaningful.
“Life is full of surprises, and some of its finest gifts arrive without an invitation.”

The Value of an Ordinary Find
Imagine finding a small, faded photograph on the pavement. To someone else, it may appear to be nothing more than a piece of paper. But behind that photograph may be a family, a friendship, a celebration, or a precious memory.
That little photograph suddenly becomes priceless—not because of its monetary value, but because of the story it carries.
This reminds us that value is often determined by meaning, not price.
A discarded diary, an old letter, a child’s drawing, or even a simple handwritten message can become a window into another person’s world.

Perhaps the Best Find Is Kindness
For me, there is another answer to this question.
The best thing we can randomly find on a street may be kindness.
Perhaps you see someone drop something without noticing. You pick it up and return it. Perhaps a stranger helps an elderly person cross a busy road. Maybe someone stops to give water to a thirsty animal on a hot afternoon.
These moments may last only a few seconds, but they restore our faith in humanity.
“Kindness is the only treasure that becomes richer when we give it away.”
And sometimes, we don’t even need to find kindness—we simply need to become the person who creates it.
What About Finding Money?
Of course, finding money on the street can be exciting! We might immediately imagine what we could buy with it.
But there is an important question: What should we do after finding it?
If there is a reasonable way to identify the owner, returning it is surely the better choice. The amount may be small to us but enormously important to someone else.
Returning a lost wallet, purse, phone, or document can turn an ordinary street encounter into a beautiful human story.
“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching.”

The Greatest Discovery
Perhaps this writing prompt is not really asking us to remember an object.
Perhaps it is asking us to remember a moment.
A moment when something unexpected entered our life and changed our mood, our thinking, or even our direction.
A random discovery can teach us to slow down and observe. We become more attentive to the world around us. We begin noticing little things that we previously ignored.
Sometimes, the greatest treasures are hiding in plain sight.

Look Closely—Life Is Leaving Clues
The next time you walk down a familiar street, don’t rush.
Look around.
You may find an interesting book, a beautiful flower growing through a crack in the pavement, an inspiring piece of street art, a forgotten object—or simply a beautiful sunset between two buildings.
But more importantly, you may discover something within yourself: curiosity, gratitude, compassion, or wonder.
After all, “Not all treasures glitter, and not all discoveries can be held in our hands.”
So, what is the best thing you have ever found randomly on the street?
Perhaps it was an object. Perhaps it was money. Perhaps it was a stranger’s kindness.
Or perhaps, like me, you will discover that the best things we find unexpectedly are often the ones that leave a lasting memory in our hearts.

Verma ji, what a beautiful reflection! 🙏
You’ve turned a simple prompt into something truly profound. I especially loved this line: “Kindness is the only treasure that becomes richer when we give it away.” That says it all.
Most of us walk through streets every day without noticing the little stories unfolding around us. Your words are a gentle reminder to slow down, look around, and stay open to life’s quiet surprises.
And you’re right — the best things we find are often not things at all, but moments, memories, and meaning.
Thank you for this lovely read. It made my day. ✨

Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words. 🙏 They truly mean a lot to me.
I believe that life becomes richer when we pause to notice the little things around us—the people we meet, unexpected moments, simple acts of kindness, and memories that quietly stay with us.
