As someone who loves travelling, this question instantly brought a smile to my face. Every journey tells a new story, every destination teaches a valuable lesson, and every adventure adds another beautiful chapter to the book of life.

Travelling is not merely about reaching a place; it is about discovering different cultures, meeting wonderful people, tasting local cuisines, admiring nature’s masterpieces, and, most importantly, discovering ourselves.

Saint Augustine wisely said,

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”

How true those words are!

Friends, I have been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful places across India with my family, while several fascinating international destinations still remain on my bucket list.

Whether already explored or patiently waiting to be discovered, each place holds a special place in my heart.

Here are my Top 10 Travel Destinations.

1. Ladakh – The Land of High Passes

Ladakh tops my travel bucket list in India. Towering snow-covered mountains, the crystal-clear waters of Pangong Tso, ancient monasteries, and endless winding roads make it a paradise for travellers and photographers alike.

Every picture from Ladakh looks like a painting, reminding us that nature is the greatest artist.

2. Kerala – God’s Own Country

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Kerala with my family in 2014, and it remains one of my most memorable holidays.

Cruising through the peaceful backwaters of Alleppey, admiring the lush tea gardens of Munnar, relaxing on beautiful beaches, and experiencing Kerala’s warm hospitality made the trip unforgettable.

A houseboat cruise under the open sky is an experience every traveller should enjoy at least once.

3. Rajasthan – The Royal Heritage

Rajasthan is very close to my heart because I was posted there during my banking career, near the magnificent Mount Abu.

Nakki Lake, the breathtaking Dilwara Temples, colourful markets, majestic forts, camel safaris, and royal palaces left an everlasting impression on me.

Every visit felt like stepping into the glorious pages of Indian history.

4. Sikkim – Nature’s Peaceful Retreat

Among all the places I have visited, Sikkim occupies a very special place in my heart.

The unforgettable drive to Nathula Pass, peaceful monasteries, colourful prayer flags dancing in the mountain breeze, snow-covered peaks, and the warm smiles of the local people make Sikkim one of India’s finest treasures. Every visit has filled me with peace and gratitude.

5. Goa – Sun, Sand and Smiles

Just two months ago, I visited Goa for a memorable family reunion.

Golden beaches, breathtaking sunsets, delicious seafood, lively music, and quality time with loved ones made the trip truly unforgettable.

Sometimes it is not only the destination but also the company that makes a journey special.

6. Switzerland – Nature at Its Finest

Switzerland has fascinated me for years and proudly occupies a place on my international bucket list.

The majestic Alps, charming villages, sparkling lakes, and scenic train journeys seem straight out of a fairy tale.

I hope one day I will stand amidst those snow-covered mountains and witness their beauty with my own eyes.

7. Japan – Where Tradition Meets Technology

Japan is a country I deeply admire.

Its ability to preserve centuries-old traditions while embracing cutting-edge technology is truly remarkable.

From the peaceful temples of Kyoto to the dazzling skyline of Tokyo and the magical cherry blossoms, Japan promises an unforgettable cultural experience. I sincerely hope to visit it in the coming years.

8. New Zealand – The Adventure Capital

For lovers of nature and adventure, New Zealand is nothing short of heaven.

Majestic mountains, crystal-clear lakes, thrilling hiking trails, bungee jumping, and breathtaking landscapes make it one of the world’s most exciting travel destinations. It is a dream destination for every photographer and nature enthusiast.

9. Italy – History, Art and Romance

Italy is a living museum.

From the ancient ruins of Rome to the romantic canals of Venice and the artistic treasures of Florence, every corner reflects centuries of history and culture.

Italian cuisine is an added attraction that makes this destination even more irresistible. It is certainly high on my travel wish list.

10. Darjeeling – A Journey Back to Beautiful Memories

Not every journey is about discovering a new place.

Sometimes, the greatest joy lies in returning to a place that once touched your heart.

I have visited Darjeeling before and still remember the mist-covered hills, endless tea gardens, the joyful toy train, and the peaceful mornings overlooking the Himalayas.

Today, I dream of returning—not alone, but with my granddaughter. I would love to watch her eyes sparkle as she experiences the magic of the toy train, sips warm tea with me on the Mall Road, and laughs as we walk together through the mountain mist.

Because travel is not only about seeing new places. It is also about reliving beautiful memories while creating new ones with those we love.

Why We Should Keep Travelling

Travelling broadens our horizons far beyond what books alone can teach. It helps us appreciate different cultures, respect diversity, become more adaptable, and create lifelong memories.

We always return richer—not in wealth, but in experiences.

Mark Twain beautifully observed,

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”

Every journey reminds us that although languages, traditions, and lifestyles may differ, human dreams, emotions, kindness, and aspirations remain universal.

Travelling also refreshes the mind, breaks the monotony of everyday life, inspires creativity, and fills our hearts with gratitude.

Often, the most precious souvenirs we bring home are not purchased in shops—they are the unforgettable moments we carry within us forever.
