# Finding Joy in Simple Pleasures #

Daily writing prompt
What’s a simple pleasure in life that brings you joy?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this Blog finds you in a cheerful mood.

We often imagine joy as something dramatic—big achievements, travel, milestones, celebrations. But real, steady happiness? It tends to hide in ordinary corners.

A simple pleasure is anything small that makes you pause and think, “Ah… this feels good.” No effort, no cost, no performance. Just presence.

And the funny thing is: these moments are everywhere once you start noticing them.

There’s something almost therapeutic about holding a warm cup—tea, coffee, hot chocolate—especially when the world hasn’t fully “started” yet or has finally slowed down.

It’s not really about the drink. It’s about:

  • the warmth in your hands
  • the pause it forces you to take
  • the feeling that nothing is urgently demanding you for a moment

That tiny ritual can feel like pressing a soft reset button on your day.

Ever had a song come on and think, “Okay, this understands me a little too well”?

That’s a simple pleasure that never gets old. Whether it’s old memories, late-night overthinking, or a random burst of energy while walking down the street—music has this quiet way of translating feelings you didn’t even plan to express.

And suddenly, you’re not just listening. You’re feeling seen.

It sounds almost too basic to matter… until you experience it.

Fresh, clean sheets after a long day can feel like stepping into a completely different version of life—softer, calmer, safer. There’s a reason so many people call it one of life’s underrated joys.

It’s a reminder that comfort doesn’t always need luxury. Sometimes it’s just freshness and rest.

Walking without a goal is underrated in a world that loves productivity.

No errands. No deadlines. Just movement.

You start noticing things you usually ignore:

  • trees you pass every day but never really “see”
  • strangers’ tiny habits
  • shifting light and air
  • your own thoughts settling down instead of racing ahead

It’s almost like your mind finally gets space to breathe.

Not polite laughter. Not formal laughter. I mean the kind where you can’t stop, your stomach hurts, and the joke itself probably wasn’t even that deep.

That kind of laughter is pure emotional release. It’s your brain dropping everything heavy for a moment and just saying, “Let’s not take life too seriously right now.”

And honestly, we all need that more often.

The Beauty of “Small Things That Feel Big”

Simple pleasures don’t announce themselves. They don’t demand attention. But they quietly build emotional resilience.

When life feels overwhelming, it’s often these tiny joys that hold things together:

  • a familiar smell
  • a soft routine
  • a small win
  • a peaceful pause

They remind us that life isn’t only made of big events—it’s mostly made of small, repeatable moments that we either notice… or miss.

A simple pleasure doesn’t need justification. It only needs awareness.

Because joy isn’t always waiting at the finish line. Sometimes it’s sitting next to you in the form of warm tea, soft music, or a quiet walk you almost didn’t take.

And the more you notice them, the more life quietly starts to feel lighter.

If you want, I can tailor this blog into a more poetic version, a professional article, or even something social-media-friendly.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

  1. Verma ji, this is absolutely beautiful. You’ve put into words what so many of us feel but rarely stop to notice. The way you’ve described those quiet, ordinary moments—warm cup in hand, music that just gets you, clean sheets after a long day—it’s like a gentle reminder to slow down and breathe.

What I loved most is how you didn’t try to oversell joy. You simply pointed out that it’s already there, hiding in plain sight, waiting for us to pause long enough to feel it. That line about joy sitting next to us in the form of warm tea and a quiet walk? That’s going to stay with me.

Thank you for writing this. It’s not just a blog—it’s a little reset button for the soul. Please keep sharing such gems. 🙏

    • Thank you so much for this deeply thoughtful message. Your words truly touched me. It means a great deal to know that the piece resonated with you in such a personal way.

I believe many of us are quietly longing for exactly this kind of pause — a return to the small, grounding moments that ask nothing from us except presence. Sometimes joy doesn’t arrive with fireworks; it slips in softly through sunlight on a window, familiar music, warm tea, or a peaceful walk when the world finally grows quiet enough to hear ourselves think again.

  2. You have stated the case so well for simpler pleasures. As adults, we lose that childlike quality that makes us curious and gives a sense of wonder. Many older kids and younger adults think life has to eb constant excitement and as a result miss out on those little moments. Our pace has slowed a lot lately and we are now taking in the simple moments and simple pleasures more fully. Have a wonderful day. Allan

    • Thank you for your thoughtful words. I think you are absolutely right — somewhere along the way many people begin to overlook the quiet beauty in ordinary moments while chasing constant excitement. Yet it is often the simplest things — a conversation, a walk, a shared cup of coffee, the changing light of the day — that stay with us the longest.
