# My Favourite Ways to Unwind #

Daily writing prompt
How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood, just like a soft melody at dusk when the day begins to mellow.

Today’s writing prompt brings a smile to my face as I read the question: “How do you unwind after a demanding day?” Oh, what a beautiful and necessary thought in this fast-paced world of ours!

Let’s take a breath and dive into the little joys that help us release the day’s weight and welcome peace.

Unwinding is not about doing nothing. It’s about doing what soothes the soul. After all, we aren’t machines that switch off with a button.

We are beings of emotion, memory, and rhythm. And each of us carries our own little rituals that help us shift from the busyness of the day to the quiet calm of evening.

For me, unwinding is a sacred pause — a moment of return.

My ritual begins with a warm cup of mint or rooibos tea, served in my favorite old mug — slightly chipped, yet full of stories. The aroma itself is like a sigh of relief.

Sometimes I sit near the window, letting the breeze whisper through the curtains while I sip slowly, letting the warmth reach my heart.

This simple act is not just about the tea — it’s about acknowledging that the day is done, and I’ve done my best.

On especially trying days, I turn to my art — whether it’s a blank canvas calling for colors or a journal page waiting to be filled with words. There’s something so healing about expressing what the heart holds in silence.

I don’t paint to impress, and I don’t write to publish. I do it because it’s me time — a soft corner of the day reserved for imagination and peace.

And oh! Sometimes, a poem flows — gentle, unplanned, yet precise in emotion.

There are days when I steal a slow dance to my favorite song in the bathroom under the shower.

I feel the classic tune that makes me giggle like a teenager. I sway, I smile, and I wave goodbye to the worries of the day.

Other days, it’s laughter with family or a storytelling session with my granddaughter. Her curious eyes and innocent questions are more therapeutic than any spa.

Togetherness is powerful — it reminds me that we are not alone in our journeys.

As the stars take their place in the sky, I find time for stillness. A walk under the moonlight, or simply standing on the terrace, watching the vastness above… it humbles me. It reminds me that every day — no matter how demanding — is a gift wrapped in lessons.

And then, before sleep, I whisper my gratitude… for the strength to endure, the joy to create, and the peace to rest.

Dear reader, how do you unwind? Do you lose yourself in music, journal your thoughts, or simply watch the world go by from your balcony?

Whatever your ritual, honor it. It is your way of healing. Because after all, the way we end the day often defines how we begin the next.

“Unwinding isn’t escaping life; it’s returning to yourself.”
— Vijay Verma

  2. What a beautiful, soulful reflection, Verma ji. Your words feel like that very cup of mint tea—warm, soothing, and full of quiet wisdom. I love how you’ve woven together such simple yet sacred rituals: the chipped mug, the unplanned poem, the shower dance, the starlit terrace. It’s a gentle reminder that unwinding isn’t laziness; it’s a loving return to oneself. Thank you for this pause, this poetry, and this peace. 🙏🌙

    • Thank you so much for such a deeply touching and beautifully expressed reflection. It truly felt like you stepped right into the moment and experienced it from within 😊

I’m especially moved by how you described it—a cup of mint tea, warm and soothing… that’s exactly the feeling I hoped to share. Those small, imperfect rituals—the chipped mug, the quiet pause, the little moments of joy—somehow become the most sacred parts of our day.
