Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood.
Today’s writing prompt stirred up a delightful wave of nostalgia—
“What is your favorite restaurant?”
And just like that, I was transported back in time… to laughter, lively music, and the sweet-tangy allure of a drink that still dances on my tongue.
Let me take you there.

The Allure of Bluefox Restaurant
It was 15 years ago, in the vibrant city of Kolkata. I was posted at the Main Branch, a place buzzing with activity and ambition. But what made that chapter memorable wasn’t just the work—it was what happened outside office hours.
Our Branch Manager, fondly called Saheb, was more than a boss. He was a catalyst of camaraderie, a man who believed in blending work with warmth.
He initiated a brilliant tradition—every fourth Saturday, all ten officers would meet for a cocktail party. And not just anywhere… we had a fixed destination: the iconic Bluefox Hotel.
“Some places remain in our memories not for what we ate, but for what we felt.”

A Symphony of Drinks
These evenings were magical. Everyone had their favorite drink—beer for some, whiskey for others, a glass of fine wine for the more elegant souls. But me? I had eyes only for the vibrant, exotic Blue Lagoon cocktail.
A mesmerizing azure drink, both sweet and citrusy, the Blue Lagoon wasn’t just a drink—it was a mood.
Its electric hue captured the imagination, and its refreshing blend of lemon and vodka was the perfect way to unwind after a long week. “A good drink shared with good friends is a recipe for unforgettable nights.”

Beyond the Blue: Camaraderie and Connection
As the evening progressed, formalities faded. The clinking of glasses slowly gave way to candid confessions, shared jokes, and heartfelt conversations.
Those gatherings helped us see each other not just as colleagues, but as people with stories, dreams, and struggles.
Somewhere between the second round and the starters, barriers melted. Laughter filled the air, as did the subtle notes of trust and understanding.
We solved personal dilemmas over paneer tikka and poured encouragement as easily as the bartender poured our drinks.
“The best table in the world is the one surrounded by laughter and friends.”

The Bill Arrives: A Lesson in Unity
Every party must come to an end. The music dimmed, the plates were cleared, and the bill arrived—often hefty, but never a burden.
I, perhaps high on the spirit (and the spirits!), was often the first to offer to pay.
But our Saheb had his own silent rule: the next morning, the bill was split equally among all.
That gesture—simple yet profound—taught us about shared responsibility. It wasn’t just about money. It was about fairness, unity, and a quiet affirmation that we were all in it together.
“True friendship isn’t about who pays the bill, but about standing together when it’s due.”
The Legacy of the Blue Lagoon
Bluefox may have shut its doors, but in our memories, it lives on. And the Blue Lagoon? It became more than a cocktail—it became a symbol of joy, togetherness, and cherished bonds.
When someone asks me today, “What’s your favorite restaurant?”, I smile.
Because it’s not about the food or the place anymore—
It’s about those Saturday nights.
It’s about the shared stories, the laughter, the clinking glasses, and the warmth of knowing you belong.
“Some flavors never fade—they linger in the heart long after the last sip.”

My feelings: Raise Your Glass
So, dear friends, as you sip your coffee or your favorite drink today, take a moment to remember your own Bluefox—that place where you felt most alive, most connected.
And if you haven’t found it yet, go out there and create it.
Cheers to memories, friendships, and finding your own favorite restaurant that becomes so much more than a place to eat.
BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

What a beautiful trip down memory lane, Verma ji! Your words painted the Bluefox evenings so vividly—I could almost taste the tangy-sweet Blue Lagoon and hear the clinking glasses. What struck me most was how you turned a simple question about a restaurant into a tribute to friendship, shared laughter, and those quiet lessons in unity. That equal-split bill rule by Saheb? Pure gold. Thank you for reminding us that the best restaurants aren’t just about food—they’re about the warmth of belonging. Here’s to your Bluefox, and to all of us finding our own. Cheers! 🥂

Thank you for sharing. Growing up in West Covina, California, there was a restaurant there that I will never forget. It was called “The Bahooka” and it was filled with fish tanks. The interior was dark with the lighted aquariums. The food was good and I remember my baseball coach took us there after our season. It was very unique. Thank you for bringing back an old and good memory. I don’t go to restaurants much these days.

Bahooka Ribs & Grog sounds like one of those magical places that stays with you forever. The way you describe the dark interiors lit by glowing aquariums—it must have felt almost like dining inside an underwater world. And that feeling you mention? That’s exactly what made places like Bahooka so special. It wasn’t just a restaurant—it was an experience.

Fabulous! A true mix of camaraderie, friendship, good drinks and a traditional establishment with history and decorum. Sounds like a delightful place.

Absolutely—it really had that rare blend of warmth and character, where stories seem to live in the walls and every corner feels steeped in history. The kind of place where conversations flow as easily as the drinks, and time slows down just enough to be savored. Truly a delightful experience, and one that lingers long after you’ve left.

Thank you—that’s so beautifully said.
You’re absolutely right… it’s never just about the food, is it? It’s the laughter across the table, the familiar corners, the little moments that quietly become memories. Those places somehow hold pieces of our lives within them.

What a charming text… it gently takes us back to a time when the simple act of being together became a living memory.
More than a restaurant or a dish, what remains is this invisible fabric of encounters, laughter, and sharing that transforms colleagues into human presence, and ordinary moments into memories that warm the heart.
There is something very beautiful in this nostalgia: it reminds us that life is also built in these light spaces, where formality gives way to connection, and where even a simple toast can carry profound meaning.
Thank you for sharing this vibrant and sensitive journey.
Have an excellent weekend, full of good encounters, in the world and within yourself.🙂🙏✨🌏✍🏻🌌🧚🏻♀️
