# O, My Mother #

This poem honors a mother’s quiet strength and love. It portrays a simple moment—a child walking with their mother—and turns it into a symbol of guidance, सुरक्षा, and emotional support.

The imagery of the sari, early mornings, and quiet resilience highlights the unseen sacrifices that form a child’s life.

# O, My Mother #

O, my mother—
you do not turn to see my face,
yet you understand
the language of my fingers
wrapped inside yours.

Your sari carries
the quiet fragrance of years—
of mornings that woke before the sun,
of nights that slept last,
of dreams folded gently
between duty and love.

I walk beside you,
my small steps learning the grammar of life,
while your silence teaches me
what words never could—
that love is not spoken,
it is lived.

Your hand is not just a hand—
it is a bridge
over every fear I have not yet named,
a promise
that even the unseen road ahead
will not be walked alone.

The world may see
just a woman and a child,
two figures fading into the distance—
but I know
I am holding the beginning of everything,
and the end of all my worries.

O, my mother—
if ever I lose my way,
I will remember this moment:
your steady hand,
your unbroken stride,
and the quiet strength
that carried us both forward.

For even when you walk ahead,
you never let me fall behind.

O, my dear mother,
I remember you—
I love you

  2. Verma ji, this is absolutely beautiful. The way you’ve woven the imagery of the sari carrying the fragrance of her quiet sacrifices, and the hand as a “bridge” over unnamed fears—it’s just breathtaking. You’ve captured the essence of a mother’s love so perfectly. Thank you for sharing this.

    • Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words—it truly means a lot. I’m really glad the imagery resonated with you, especially those quiet details. A mother’s love often lives in the spaces we don’t always notice, so I just tried to give those moments a voice.

Your appreciation encourages me more than you know. Grateful that you took the time to read and feel it so deeply. 🙏
