A thoughtful look at how small changes in us can change our world. This poem highlights the power of a smile, the healing of sadness, and the beauty of facing pain kindly—until it learns to soften and smile as well.
# A Small Shift #
Let your smile come gently,
as if finding its way home again—
unasked,
yet deeply known.
Hold your sorrow
not as a burden,
but like a tired friend—
and feel it soften
in your warmth.
Beneath the hush of heavy moments,
something within you
is still breathing,
still reaching for light.
Just a slight curve of your lips…
and life leans closer,
as though it never left.
Let your smile rediscover itself,
resting on your face
like the first touch of dawn—
and offer your pain
a tender kindness,
so quietly profound
that it forgets its ache…
and, in your embrace,
learns how to smile again.

Thank you so much 😊
You’ve expressed it beautifully—self-compassion really does have a quiet, powerful ripple effect. When we’re kinder to ourselves, it naturally reflects in how we treat others too

Verma ji, this is absolutely beautiful. The way you’ve captured gentleness as a form of strength—especially the image of pain learning to smile—is deeply moving. Thank you for this quiet gift.

Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words 😊
I’m truly touched that the piece resonated with you in that way. The idea that gentleness can hold strength is something I deeply believe in—and I’m glad the image spoke to you.
Your response itself feels like a reflection of that same quiet understanding. Grateful for your presence and appreciation… it means a lot 🌿✨

Good morning, and thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words 😊
I’m really touched by how deeply you connected with that line—“embracing sorrow like a tired friend” is indeed something that sounds simple, but is not easy to practice. As you said, for most of us, sadness naturally feels like a burden.

Beautiful poem Verma! Simple yet rich with meaning and a quiet hope. I often feel this way when I rediscover old passions and interests; it’s a wonderful feeling!

Thank you so much—that truly means a lot to me.
I love what you said about rediscovering old passions… there’s something almost magical about it, isn’t there? Like meeting a part of yourself you never really lost, just set aside for a while. That quiet joy, that familiar spark—it feels like coming home in the gentlest way.
