This poem speaks through the voice of a road—still, silent, and enduring—as it observes humanity rushing past in search of meaning.
While people chase destinations, success, and time itself, the road becomes a witness to their restlessness and inner emptiness.
This poem asks a simple but unsettling question: What does it mean to truly stay and live?
I Am the Road
I am the road—
not made for destinations,
but for the weight of passing lives.
I have watched seasons change,
felt the burn of the sun,
the gentleness of rain.
I remain where I am,
still,
while the world rushes forward.
Every day, countless travelers cross me.
Some familiar, some strangers,
all carrying urgency in their steps.
Everyone is chasing something—
a dream, a future, a promise—
with no time left to breathe.
Stopping feels forbidden.
Living is postponed.
Time is never enough.
I see success in their hands,
and emptiness in their eyes.
So much movement,
yet so little peace.
I have learned this:
it is easy to chase dreams,
but hard to sit with oneself.
If this is life,
then I am at peace.
I want nothing.
I fear nothing.
I am the road—
silent, enduring,
holding every story,
asking only one question:
how does one truly live?

Such an empowering poem that is carrying a “quiet” observance of today’s life that it is exactly how you described in the poem. I really love the message , keep on with good work as always!

Thank you so much for these words — they truly mean a lot.
I’m really glad the poem resonated with you in the way it was meant to: quietly, honestly, without forcing itself. That “quiet observance” you mentioned is exactly where the heart of the poem lives, and knowing you felt that tells me it reached the right place.
Your appreciation isn’t just encouragement; it’s a reminder of why such reflective writing matters in a noisy world. I’m grateful you took the time to read, feel, and share your response.
Thank you for the warmth and trust — I’ll absolutely keep going. 🌙

The perspective of the enduring road watching the “urgency” of life is brilliant. It’s a powerful reminder that while we chase destinations, the real challenge is “to sit with oneself.” It truly prompts a deep consideration of the final question: how does one truly live?

Thank you — that’s such a thoughtful and generous reading of the poem. I love how you framed it: the enduring road against the urgency of life. That contrast is really the heartbeat of the piece, and you captured it beautifully.

A quietly powerful reflection stillness speaking truth to restless motion.
The road’s silence becomes wisdom, asking us what we often avoid: how to truly live.

Thank you, dear — that’s a beautifully perceptive reflection.
I love how you named the tension between stillness and restless motion; that contrast is exactly where the heart of the piece lives.
Your words give voice to the silence the road holds, and it’s deeply affirming to see the poem reflected back with such clarity and thoughtfulness.
I’m grateful you took the time to read and respond so insightfully.
Reflections like yours are part of what keeps these questions alive.
