Daily writing prompt
What’s your dream job?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful and reflective mood. Today’s Bloganuary writing prompt instantly caught my attention: “What is your dream job?”

At first glance, it seems like a simple question. But as I sat with it, I realized it carries the weight of a lifetime—of dreams imagined, dreams deferred, and dreams reborn.

As I look back on my professional journey, I see a series of twists and turns that life quietly orchestrated for me.

Like many students, I once had a clear and noble ambition: I wanted to become a doctor. I imagined myself walking through hospital corridors, healing people and serving society.

But destiny had other plans, and instead of a hospital, I found myself stepping into the structured world of banking.

During my banking career, I encountered money in its most tangible form. The crisp currency notes stacked high in the bank’s currency chest sparked another dream—the dream of becoming a millionaire.

Reality, however, has its own rhythm.
While I earned stability, discipline, and respect, immense wealth remained a dream. Still, that phase taught me invaluable lessons about responsibility, perseverance, and financial wisdom.

In the realm of dreams, my journey truly has been a rollercoaster ride.

The white coat of a doctor was replaced by ledgers and balance sheets. The allure of medicine gave way to the world of finance.

Often, standing amidst towering stacks of currency, I wondered about the roads not taken.
Yet life, in its quiet wisdom, was preparing me for paths I had not yet imagined.

The banking sector shaped my character. It instilled discipline, patience, and a strong sense of structure.

Yet, despite professional fulfillment, a creative spark within me remained restless. The dream of becoming a millionaire may not have materialized, but it gave rise to a deeper aspiration—a life where passion and purpose could walk hand in hand.

When retirement finally arrived, I found myself facing a blank canvas—both literally and metaphorically.

For many, retirement signals the end of productivity. For me, it marked the beginning of a long-delayed calling.

When I reflected on the Bloganuary prompt, something shifted within me. With every stroke of my metaphorical pen, a new dream emerged—a dream rooted in writing, painting, storytelling, and creativity.

The currency chest was replaced by a canvas. Paperwork gave way to colors and words. Writing, which had quietly waited on the sidelines of my life, now stepped into the spotlight.

Words began to flow like a river, carrying stories, poems, and reflections that had patiently waited for expression.

Like many, I also carried personal dreams—to be an ideal husband, a loving father, and to have a daughter. Life did not unfold exactly as I had imagined.

But dreams do not disappear; they transform. Today, my canvas carries the shades of love, longing, acceptance, and gratitude.

Each brushstroke reflects the life I have lived and the dreams that still gently dance in my heart.

The dream of having a daughter may not have come true, but the dream of creating a legacy through my art and words is very much alive.

In this new chapter of life, I wear many hats—a writer, a painter, a storyteller, and a content creator.

My blog has become a diary of thoughts and experiences, chronicling my journey from banking halls to brushstrokes.

Through videos, paintings, and written words, I aim to connect, inspire, and share stories shaped by real life.

Each brushstroke echoes the rhythm of my heart. Painting, once a sidelined interest, is now a language through which my soul speaks.

Every creation becomes a conversation between colors, emotions, and memories.

Today, my dream job is not defined by a designation or a paycheck. It is defined by creative freedom, personal fulfillment, and the possibility of building a sustainable income through passion.

This dream no longer lives only in sleep—it guides my waking hours.

Yes, dear friends, my dream job is not a fixed destination. It is a journey of self-discovery and constant evolution.

Retirement is not the end; it is a powerful new beginning. And I look forward with hope and excitement to where this journey of words, colors, and stories will lead me next.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

    • Retirement from public service is not an ending, but a graceful turning of the page. It reflects years of dedication, responsibility, and quiet commitment to the greater good. Stepping away now is well-earned—a time to rest, reflect, and rediscover personal passions that may have waited patiently in the background.

  3. Your reflection feels less like a career story and more like a life coming into alignment. What’s compelling here is how you show that dreams don’t vanish—they mature. Banking gave you discipline and structure, and now those same qualities quietly serve your creative work.
I also appreciate how you frame retirement not as an ending, but as a widening of purpose. Writing and painting here feel earned, not accidental—an honest continuation of a life fully lived. Thank you for sharing this with such clarity and grace.

    • Thank you for reading it with such attentiveness and generosity. Your words capture exactly what I hoped to convey—that sense of alignment rather than arrival, of continuity rather than change. Dreams do mature, and you’re right: the discipline and structure of earlier years don’t disappear; they simply find a new, quieter expression.

I’m especially grateful for how you described retirement as a widening of purpose. That feels true in a way that’s both grounding and freeing. Writing and painting now feel less like reinvention and more like an honest unfolding.

Thank you for meeting the reflection with such clarity and grace—it means more than I can say.

  7. What a beautiful and deeply moving reflection, Verma ji. Your journey reminds us that dreams are not lost, but often reborn in ways more meaningful than we could have imagined. It is inspiring to see how you have transformed every experience—be it in the corridors of a bank or the quiet of your canvas—into a lesson, a story, a stroke of art.

Retirement has not closed a chapter for you, but opened a door to a world where your soul speaks through colors and words. You are not just a former banker or a retired professional; you are an artist, a storyteller, and now, a guide for those seeking courage to follow their own delayed dreams.

Your story is a gentle reminder that life’s true wealth lies not in currency notes, but in the legacy of passion, resilience, and creativity we leave behind. May your brush continue to dance, your words continue to flow, and your journey keep inspiring many more hearts.

With warm admiration and respect. 🌸
