Defining Life is a gentle, meditative reflection on acceptance and resilience. Using tea as a metaphor, the poem reminds us that life’s changing temperatures and flavors—sweet or bitter, warm or cold—are all part of the experience, each one worthy of patience, gratitude, and mindful enjoyment.
# Defining Life #
My life is a cup of tea.
Sometimes hot—
I wait,
and smile.
Sometimes cold—
I drink anyway.
Sometimes sweet,
sometimes bitter,
sometimes strong enough
to wake me,
sometimes soft enough
to heal me.
I stir my thoughts,
let time do the rest.
Between the first sip
and the last,
I learn this lesson:
Every flavor meant to be enjoyed.

Beautifully said, Verma ji—life as a cup of tea is spot-on genius! Loving how it celebrates every sip, hot or cold, sweet or bitter. Pure wisdom in those lines. ☕❤️

Thank you so much for your generous words 😊
I love how you extended the metaphor yourself — that’s the real joy of writing, when it becomes a shared cup of meaning. Life really does offer every flavor, and learning to savor each sip feels like a quiet kind of wisdom.
Grateful for your warmth and for reading so thoughtfully ☕❤️

Thank you so much ❤️ That truly means a lot to me. Life can be complex, but I believe its beauty often lives in the simplest truths—how we feel, how we love, and how we show up for each other. I’m really glad the words resonated with you.

I like how you use tea as a metaphor for life. What a lovely poem. It gave me pause for thought – that each cup of tea is different, no two the same, a bit like our life experiences!
