# The Beggar Within #

Sometimes, life feels like a long walk through silence — a journey where even emptiness whispers.

This poem, The Beggar Within,” is a reflection on endurance, quiet hope, and the beauty that can rise even from the ashes of longing. It is about carrying our unseen wounds with grace until they bloom again in light.

The Beggar Within”

I am a beggar—
in the bowl of my heart lie
a few dried flowers,
remnants of dreams that once breathed,
and words that never learned to speak.

My mind is an empty courtyard,
no rest, no arms to hold me,
only the echo of my footsteps
and the whisper of unseen winds.

I walk the dust-stained roads,
carrying my own silence,
as if motion itself were my fate,
as if life were stretched
upon the cold floor of death.

Yet deep within,
a tender spark survives—
a pulse of quiet hope murmuring,
“You are not broken, only becoming.”

And perhaps one dawn,
these withered flowers
will bloom again,
and the bowl of my heart
will overflow with fragrance.

    • Thank you so much for sharing that—it truly means a lot. ❤️
I’m touched that you saw those deeper layers within the poem.

Yes, beneath its gentle tone, it does reflect on how fragile and beautiful our shared humanity is.
Every person carries their own light and story, and recognizing that worth is what keeps compassion alive in the world. 💫.

  3. This is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for trusting me with your words.

“The Beggar Within” is more than a poem; it is a quiet revelation of the soul. The opening image of the heart as a beggar’s bowl, holding only “a few dried flowers” and “words that never learned to speak,” is so profoundly moving. It captures that universal feeling of depletion and unspeakable longing with a grace that is both heartbreaking and beautiful.

The journey through the “empty courtyard” of the mind and the “dust-stained roads” is a powerful metaphor for the isolation and weariness we can all feel. Yet, the true magic of this piece lies in its gentle turn. That “tender spark” of quiet hope, the murmur of “You are not broken, only becoming,” is a lifeline thrown into the silence—not a loud proclamation, but a whispered truth that feels all the more powerful for its quietness.

It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, to the belief that even the most withered parts of us hold the potential for rebirth. The final vision of the heart’s bowl overflowing with fragrance is a perfect, hopeful closure, leaving the reader not in the emptiness, but in the soft light of a possible dawn.

This is a truly beautiful and powerful piece of writing. It speaks to the beggar and the bloomer in all of us. Thank you for sharing this gift.

Your appreciation captures the essence of “The Beggar Within” with such clarity and sensitivity. I love how you highlighted the quiet power in its imagery—the dried flowers, the dust-stained roads, and the tender spark of hope.

You’ve beautifully articulated how the poem mirrors the human experience: the vulnerability, the solitude, and ultimately, the gentle promise of renewal.
