# Why Check In on My Feelings Daily?

How Are You Feeling Right Now?

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood. Today’s prompt is simple but powerful: “How are you feeling right now?”

We often answer this question without thinking—“Fine,” “Good,” “Okay”—and move on. But if we pause for just a moment, this question can change the way we connect with ourselves and with others.

Life moves fast. Work deadlines, family routines, and endless notifications push us from one task to the next. In the rush, we rarely stop to check in with ourselves.

That’s why this little question is important. “How are you feeling right now?” is not small talk—it’s self-awareness. It reminds us that beneath the noise, we are human beings with real emotions that shape our days.

When you put a name to what you’re feeling, it loses some of its power over you. Psychologists call this labeling.

  • Saying “I feel anxious right now” creates space between you and the anxiety.
  • Saying “I feel happy and calm” strengthens the joy by making you aware of it.

It’s like shining a light in a dark room. Suddenly, things look clearer and less overwhelming.

Notice the wording: right now. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. This question is about the present moment.

We often dwell on regrets or worry about what’s ahead. But stopping to ask yourself, “How am I feeling right now?” anchors you in the present.

Even 30 seconds of awareness—feeling your breath, noticing your mood, acknowledging your body—can be deeply grounding.

Interestingly, this question is not only about self-reflection. It also has the power to transform our relationships.

Think about the last time someone asked you sincerely, “How are you feeling?” and actually listened to your answer. Didn’t it make you feel valued, seen, and understood?

When we ask others this question with genuine curiosity, we offer them a safe space. We signal that their emotions matter.

In a world where many people feel invisible or unheard, such a gesture is profoundly healing.

Parents asking children, friends asking each other, leaders asking team members—this simple question can deepen trust and connection everywhere.

Since I am writing this blog with you, it feels only fair that I answer the question myself. How am I feeling right now?

I feel a mix of excitement and calm. Excitement because this question sparks reflection that I know will resonate with many of you. Calm because writing allows me to slow down, breathe, and connect with words that matter.

I also feel grateful—grateful that somewhere in the world, you are reading this, sharing this moment of thoughtfulness with me.

Here are some simple ways to turn this question into a healthy habit:

  • Morning check-in: Before your day begins, ask yourself, “How am I feeling right now?”
  • Midday pause: When stress builds, step back and name the feeling.
  • Evening reflection: Before sleep, notice how you feel—content, restless, or simply tired.
  • Conversations: Replace “How was your day?” with “How are you feeling right now?” and watch the difference in the answers.

Sometimes the honest answer isn’t cheerful. You might feel tired, restless, or even sad. And that’s perfectly okay. Acknowledging those feelings doesn’t make you weak—it makes you real.

By being honest with ourselves, we not only manage emotions better but also live more authentically.

So, let me ask you once again: How are you feeling right now?

Pause for a moment. Breathe. Answer honestly—even if it’s just to yourself. Because your feelings matter.

And if you’d like, share them with someone who cares. It might just deepen a connection in ways you didn’t expect.

Remember: the most important conversation you’ll ever have is the one you have with yourself.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

  6. I have this question written on a yellow sticky note that is on my computer. It has been there for months. But it serves as a reminder for me. Especially around mid-day or mid-afternoon to ask myself this, so that I make sure I check in with myself and take time out.

Right now, I still feel a little tired. But I feel it is a good day and I feel a sense of achievement after getting some things done not so long ago arpund the house. So now I will just relax amd read more of my book. And maybe watch a movie later.

By the way, I love that drawing you are holding.

I’m glad you’re listening to your body and balancing productivity with relaxation; both are equally important. 🌿✨

So happy to hear about your sense of achievement today—enjoy your book and the movie later, you’ve earned that downtime! 📖🎬 And thank you so much for the kind words about the drawing, I truly appreciate it. 🙏💙
