This heartfelt poem reflects my journey from a disciplined work life to the freedom of creative expression after retirement. It showcases my identity as a writer and artist, highlighting my experience of navigating life with inspiration, faith, and emotional depth.
“Still I Bloom” honors the enduring spirit within us, reminding us that we can still blossom beautifully, even as seasons change.
❤️ Still I Bloom ❤️
I am a canvas brushed by time,
A silent song in emotional rhyme.
Once bound by duty’s daily thread,
Now I write the thoughts once left unsaid.
The pen I hold — no sword, no shield,
But the truth it carves in every field.
An inner writer born in recent years,
Who turns both joy and pain to tears.
With colors bold and thoughts set free,
I paint the lovely world I wish to see.
Each stroke, a whisper from the soul,
Each shade, a step toward feeling whole.
“Retired,” you say — I smile, agree —
But not from life, not poetry.
Inspired still, I rise each day,
To find the light, to feel, to pray.
Prepared I am — not out of fear,
But faith that storms will soon be clear.
A lantern lit for those who roam,
A map of heart that leads them home.
And yet, beneath all grand pursuits,
Beyond the art, beyond the roots,
I’m simply human — flawed and kind,
Try to see the world with an open mind.
I laugh, I ache, I dance, I fall,
I give myself to life’s sweet call.
In every breath, I find creating
Reminds me – the heart is beating.

Wonderful poem, Vijay. My favorite line, “I laugh, I ache, I dance, I fall,
I give myself to life’s sweet call.”

This is Just. Fantastic, I do art all the time from writing to painting.
I still can’t call myself an artist .
I’ve let others do that
But then, again, I never called myself. A computer programmer.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful reflection! 🌟
Art, I believe, lives in the act itself — in every brushstroke, every word, every emotion expressed. Whether or not we claim the title, the creative spirit speaks through us.
And sometimes, it’s in letting others define us that we truly understand who we are. Keep creating — that in itself is the truest mark of an artist. 🎨✍️
