# Finding Inner Peace #

Daily writing prompt
What brings you peace?

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood.
Today’s writing prompt stirred a gentle ripple in my heart — “What brings you peace?”

A simple question on the surface, yet so deeply layered when one begins to explore its true meaning.

We live in a world that moves at a relentless pace. The noise of obligations, the constant hum of technology, and the expectations from others and ourselves often leave us exhausted — mentally and emotionally.

In such a world, peace is not just a fleeting moment of silence. It is a state of being. A delicate balance between acceptance, gratitude, and inner calm.

But what exactly brings us peace?

For each of us, the answer may be different.

For me, peace is not found in perfection, but in presence — in those little pockets of the day where I feel aligned with my purpose, with nature, with loved ones, and most importantly, with myself.

There is something incredibly healing about nature. The rustling leaves, the gentle flow of a stream, the golden hue of the sunrise — they all speak a silent language that comforts the soul.

I often take long morning walks and listen to the symphony of birds or sit under the shade of an old tree with a journal in hand.

The earth doesn’t rush, it doesn’t compete — and it reminds me that I too can slow down.

As poet Rumi once said, “Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop.” Nature teaches us how to let go — and letting go is the beginning of peace.

Writing has become my sanctuary. Each poem, each story, each blog is a window to my soul.

When I write, I’m not concerned with deadlines or applause. I simply surrender to the flow. I often find that when words come from the heart, they calm the turbulence within.

Art, music, painting — they all allow the heart to speak its own language. When I paint abstract forms, my mind wanders into a meditative state.

I am no longer bound by logic or rules. I am just… being. That space of creation — free and unjudged — is where peace gently whispers its presence.

Peace also comes from meaningful human connection. Not necessarily from grand gestures, but from a warm hug, a shared cup of tea, a silent companionship where words aren’t needed.

My granddaughter’s laughter, my partner’s smile, a heartfelt conversation with an old friend — these are my moments of serenity.

Forgiveness, too, is a great bringer of peace. Holding onto grudges is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer.

When I learned to forgive, I also learned to free myself. And in that freedom, peace arrived — quietly, yet powerfully.

After retirement, I discovered that having a rhythm to my day — waking early, sipping herbal tea, stretching, writing, painting, reading — adds a sense of order that calms my inner chaos.

Simplicity is often underrated, but it is one of the most profound ways to invite peace.

In decluttering my home and my mind, I’ve discovered that less truly is more. Owning fewer things has allowed me to cherish the things that matter. Like time. Like health. Like love.

Above all, peace for me flows from my spiritual life. Spending time in prayer, reflection, or simply sitting in silence opens a sacred space within.

It is in this space that I reconnect with something greater — call it God, the universe, or the divine presence.

There’s a verse I hold dear: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Stillness is not emptiness. It is fullness in disguise. When we are still, we hear the voice of our soul. And the soul, my friends, always knows the path to peace.

Peace isn’t always about avoiding storms. Sometimes, it’s about learning to dance in the rain. Life will bring its share of challenges — loss, change, uncertainty. But how we respond, how we hold ourselves in the storm, determines our inner state.

To those still searching — start with the little things. What calms your breath? What slows your thoughts? What makes your heart smile? Follow that. Peace is not a destination. It is a practice.

So, I ask you dear readers — What brings you peace?
Find it. Cultivate it. And protect it like the sacred flame it is.

With warmth and calm,
Vijay Verma

Thank you. That resonated deeply, especially the emphasis on mindful connection with ones inner life (and boundaries!). It’s a vital tool to reclaim agency over our own narrative.
