Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood and vibrant spirit.
Today’s writing prompt touched me deeply — “How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?”
In this heartfelt blog, I explore my identity beyond appearances—through words, emotions, and soulful reflections that reveal my inner world.
This is a fascinating and layered question! It made me pause and reflect—not only on my outer appearance but also on my inner landscape, my values, and the silent music I carry within me.
Because, let’s be honest — how we truly are is not what’s captured in the mirror, but what echoes in someone’s heart after they’ve met us.
🎭 Not Just Flesh and Form
If someone couldn’t see me, I’d invite them to know me through my voice, my words, and the energy I carry. I’d begin by saying:
“Close your eyes and feel the warmth of a winter sun — that’s how I want my presence to feel — comforting, mellow, and honest.”
I am a 65-year-young soul, seasoned by life’s monsoons and magic, yet vibrant like spring after a long winter.
My body may carry creases, but each wrinkle is a bookmark from a page of life well-lived.

✍️ The Wordsmith Within
Words are my world.
I’d tell them — “Imagine a quiet morning where you hear a pen scratching gently on paper. That’s me. A poet of the ordinary. A storyteller of silent emotions.”
I live in stories — some written, some lived, many imagined. My blog, Retired Kalam, is where my heart spills itself out, sometimes in verse, sometimes in vibrant color.
Even if they couldn’t see me, they’d find me — in metaphors, in emotion, in memories strung into sentences.

🌈 The Painter of Moods
If you can’t see me, feel me in colors.
No, not on canvas — but in moods.
I am often sky-blue — calm, deep, and reflective.
Sometimes mustard yellow — warm, bold, and nostalgic.
And occasionally — stormy grey — for I too carry days of doubt and introspection.
I’d describe myself as someone who chases sunsets with a paintbrush and captures childhood in poetry.
👂 A Voice of Laughter and Longing
I’d say — “If you can hear me laugh, you’ll know I still dance with life.”
My voice, though deepened by age, still holds the sparkle of curiosity. There’s a slight pause in my speech when I get emotional. And a softness when I speak of my granddaughter or a memory I painted in words.
I’d describe myself as someone whose laugh is like soft rain on dry soil — sudden, soothing, and honest.
🌱 What You Can’t See Is What I Truly Am
They wouldn’t see my face — but I’d make sure they feel:
- My kindness in the way I listen
- My curiosity in the questions I ask
- My gratitude in the silences between our conversations
- My resilience in the stories I choose to tell
- And my faith in goodness, even after life’s disappointments
I’d tell them, “I am not a photograph, I am a feeling. I am not lines on my forehead, I am lines of poetry written after midnight.”

💃 A Life in Motion
I love to dance — especially with my partner, slowly swaying to old Bollywood songs. You can’t see it, but you’d feel the joy in my step, and the love in our laughter.
I may not run anymore, but I walk with stories in my heart. I don’t shout, but I speak with purpose. I don’t perform — I simply live.
🌌 Final Words
So if you can’t see me, don’t worry. You’re not missing out — because the truest parts of me are invisible anyway.
I’d say,
“Think of me as a warm cup of tea on a rainy evening, a handwritten letter, a slow song from the 70s — familiar, soft, and full of heart.”
To be known by someone who cannot see me is perhaps the most honest form of recognition. No surface judgments. Just soul.
That, dear friends, is how I would describe myself — a mosaic of experiences, emotions, and expressions — far beyond the frame of a mirror.
What about you?
How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?
I’d love to read your version. Let’s share ourselves — not through eyes, but through essence.
Until next time,
Stay thoughtful. Stay kind.
