# How I Describe Myself #

Daily writing prompt
How would you describe yourself to someone?

Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful and reflective mood.

Today’s writing prompt struck a deep chord in me:
“How would you describe yourself to someone?”

Such a simple question—yet layered like the pages of a diary, or perhaps a novel still being written.

If I were to describe myself to someone, I would say:
I am a traveler, not of places alone, but of thoughts, memories, and emotions.

For much of my life, I was a man of logic, charts, and numbers—working diligently in the banking sector, crunching figures, and aligning accounts.

Back then, I wouldn’t have described myself as “creative” or “emotional.” My days were structured, and life moved in straight lines.

But retirement gave me a passport to an undiscovered country: my inner self.

That’s when I began exploring painting, poetry, and storytelling. And soon, I found that beneath the orderly life I lived was a deep well of curiosity, wonder, and emotion.

So if someone asks who I am now, I say:

“I am a storyteller at heart—penning down emotions that once sat quietly in forgotten corners.”

I would describe myself as a late-blooming artist.

The paintbrush has become my friend, my escape, and my mirror. Through abstract strokes and surreal images, I give form to the feelings I once suppressed.

Each canvas I touch feels like a conversation with my soul. Sometimes bright, sometimes brooding—but always honest.

The poems I write are not just words strung together—they are fragments of a life lived deeply, with both sorrow and song.

I see beauty even in fading things—the final bloom of a flower, the slow fall of a leaf.

So yes, I am also a seeker of beauty, even in the mundane.

To someone who doesn’t know me, I would also describe myself as a soft-hearted grandfather who melts in the presence of his little granddaughter. Her smile is my sunshine; her laughter, my healing.

Children have a way of making us rediscover parts of ourselves we had forgotten. She has reintroduced me to wonder, innocence, and playfulness.

Dancing with her in the living room or listening to her questions about the stars are now my treasured moments.

So, I suppose you could say,
“I am someone who values love more than logic now.”

Age has also turned me into a quiet philosopher.

I no longer chase answers with the urgency of youth. Instead, I sit by the window with a cup of green tea, watching the clouds and asking better questions.

Who am I? Why do we fear silence? What does it mean to live a full life?

These are the thoughts that linger in my mind. And though I may not have all the answers, I have developed a strange peace with uncertainty. Perhaps that, too is a kind of wisdom.

So yes, I am also a seeker—not of destinations, but of meanings.

I would describe myself as someone who cultivates joy intentionally. I believe happiness is not accidental—it is a choice, a discipline, and sometimes a rebellion against despair.

I smile often, even at strangers. I write daily, not to be famous, but to feel connected to the pulse of life. I surround myself with good tea, good books, kind people, and most importantly, hope.

I have come to understand that we are each a garden. We must weed out bitterness, plant seeds of gratitude, and water the soil with forgiveness.

That’s how I would describe myself:
As a man tending to his inner garden.

I’ve been a banker, a husband, a father, a friend, an artist, and a writer. But beneath all these labels, I am simply human—flawed, resilient, still growing.

If you met me for the first time, I’d probably greet you with a smile and a story. And if you stayed long enough, I might share with you a poem I wrote on a rainy evening or show you a painting that speaks without words.

Because at the end of the day,
I believe we are all just stories waiting to be told—and understood.

So, how would I describe myself to someone?

I would say:
“I am a mosaic of experiences—broken in places, shining in others, but beautiful in the whole.

I am still becoming, still learning, still hopeful. I am not just living life—I am feeling it, painting it, writing it, and most of all, sharing it.”

And dear friends, I encourage you to ask yourself the same question.
How would you describe yourself to someone?

You may be surprised by what you find.
